You're still comparing apples to horseshoes. The time of existential wars and the weaponry they entailed was completely different than what we are looking at today. Today, you could fight an existential war with an all-volunteer force--easily.
Thats not what we're talking about, we're talking about who is prepared to sign up to fight and die for their country.

Historically its been very few people, if the situation arose again - and the Iraq and Afghan wars were only made possible by hiring so many contractors - a draft would be required.

That was the Nazis justification for invading most of Europe IIRC, and most Germans were right behind them.
Very different times though, so you can't really compare it.

Yeah you did, and used the proceeds to pay yourselves to rebuild all the stuff you bombed.

The contractors are doing non-combat roles, easily filled by military types if we wanted to put them there. However, part of the national strategy has been to keep enough active and reserve available to deal with another major theater conflict, should it arise. Your understanding of the true need and number of contractors is pretty flawed, Dilbert. No draft needed.

If there was a land invasion of the US today... I doubt there would be a need for a draft since there would be a shitload of volunteers. Especially if Mexicans invade lel.

If Australia were invaded, we'd make do with volunteers... cause conscription is illegal.

Are you seriously trying to compare 1930's-1940's Germany to the USA of today?

There are no similarities inbetween the two on their reason and public mentality. Not only do the times differ greatly, germany was also stuck in one of it's poorest moments in history - which greatly influenced the state of mind of the german people. Not to mention the vastly different state the world was in politically and the issues countries had to deal with at the time.

I recommend you look into world war I and the willingness people had at that time to fight eachother.

That conscription usually coincided with periods of strife does not mean people didn't want to to sign up for the military during these times.

Muslims and Arabs.

Getting hold of the Kazak oil fields was part of the masterplan.

to claim that the us want to kill all arabs and/or muslims is just stupid

also, the attempt to conquer the caucasian oil fields (the famous "fall blau" - german summer offensive in 1942) was NOT the reason for the german attack on the soviet union (the three main reasons were the conquering of "lebensraum" in the east, the liquidation of the "jewish-bolshevist system" and the construction of an autarkic, blockade-proof, independant german power bloc in continental europe)

the german summer offensive aimed at strategically defeating the red army and ending the war in the east by denying and wresting the soviet armed forces the military-economically important regions and raw materials in the caucasus, at the don, the donez, the wolga, around stalingrad etc

it was sort of a "plan b" since the conquering of leningrad and moscow did not work out and moreover the red army had not been defeated
