I'm really confused about this. What's the difference between dance, house, techno, trance, and all those other types of music?

That site is so good!
I've made a list of like 50 new songs I've found in random sub-genres!

They all fall under the genre of music which requires glow sticks and ecstasy to be enjoyable.
I really like his sense of humor, and it's very informative, though biased a bit (but that's ok because his biases align with my own)
His trivia game is also kinda fun. Played it a few times and failed miserably, then took a History of Electronic Dance Music course, and now I come back to the trivia game and do a lot better. My highest score so far 1253 (out of 1500), 9/10 correct

Synths are fine. I love synths. But not the saw kind, especially when used by annoying Dutch trance artists.

It doesn't have dubstep listed in there.mtb0minime wrote:

I know there's the individual genres of dubstep in there, but I was hoping for an overall description and some tracks, then the sub-genres listed.
that's because that website is ollder than dubstep - the closest it will get is garageTheDonkey wrote:

You can learn a fair amount about each genre (or at least, get a brief overview) by looking at their respective tag pages on last.fm
http://www.last.fm/tag/trance?ac=trance
http://www.last.fm/tag/techno?ac=techno
etc
And then you can read about their sub genres too (though not all of them really "exist" as genres, as they're "tags"):
Though at a quick glance it seems much of the content of the wikis on last.fm is taken from Wikipedia.

Ishkur is supposed to be updating his guide. Says it'll hopefully be out this summer, but I'm not getting my hopes up considering v3.0 has been "coming soon" for the past 3 or 4 years.
