I think they do it on purpose usually, if they're confident about their album.

That's my theory, anyways.

Uzique: There are 1 or 2 songs that are pulling the "fight the power" (lol) card a little too hard, but I don't really get that feeling on the whole.
Which is annoying... I personally don't give a fuck if someone thinks all of humanity came from Africa. Good for them/Your thoughts, insights, and musings on this matter intrigue me.

Yeah, not a fan of the actual lyrics and the content. But I like the flow/style of the two tracks in this thread. That's enough for me to listen to the tracks and like them enough

I don't understand why African nationalists always cling onto the accomplishments made by the Egyptians. They weren't really African. Although there was a period when the Sudanese controlled the Egyptians and they were proper black-Africans iirc.

It is a good album.

Just not Illmatic.

But then again, try to find an album that even remotely touches Illmatic in the past decade.

Gave the album a listen, didn't really like it. Most of the tracks were quite boring. Except the one in the OP, and these two:

It's a pretty good album.  Definitely not the best by either of them but it's got a few good tracks.  To be honest I was expecting something a lot better than this but it doesn't mean it's a bad album.

Damian Marley is enamored with American hip-hop and he delivers his message within the confines of his style and it doesn't really resonate that well when mixed with Nas emulating Damian's message.  Plus the two styles really conflict on some of the songs - Damian with an overaggressive toasting and Nas with his laid-back rhyming really don't seem to mesh that well on some of the tracks.
