walk in
see 20 mexicans in front of him with box of tissues.
wait for 2 hours because baby javier has the sniffles.
no. they dont have serious issues. yes. they thinks its a doctors office.

CA residents know exactly what im talking about.

seriously, get the fuck out of the ER.

i don't think health care reform is going to change this.

how about we create some subsidized walk in clinic or some shit. ideas?

I'm going to be a cynic here and say that his dad's injuries are exaggerated.

If his dad was in real trouble then this thread would be more worried for his dad than angry for non-Whites. He wouldn't use this as a anecdote to justify his views.

Well no, at the hospital I've gone to for the ER once they have a triage system. A nurse checks you out and then gives you a tag with a color on it and they also put you into a queue. Those with the least serious stuff are at the back of the line while the most serious stuff gets checked out first. If anything there's probably a law saying that's how it's supposed to go.

The last time I took my son, who is 25% wetback, to the e.r., he didn't seem to have to wait in from of the ones that were more wet than him.

My son had the flue btw, aka as the sniffles.

That being said, we should crack down on the immigration thing sometime next week.

There are other criteria. That's why they have a triage system. It's all based on how the patient presents. That's why someone who goes to the ER with sniffles sits there for 8 hours.

However, it is very surprising that they didn't triage more effectively. My local hospital (NY) I end up in far to often because of my own stupidity and they always seem effective at triaging.

Two things get you into the ER right away

1. chest pain... if you claim to have chest pain they take you immediately... with super high blood pressure its a plausible story AND

2. an ambulance ride... If you go to an ER in an ambulance they take you in right away, they don't make you sit in the waiting room.

Hopefully there won't be a next time, but if there is, tell your dad to call an ambulance and say chest pain... if the cost of an ambulance gets you in faster then it might just save his life.

If you get stuck behind someone with the sniffles, its because you didn't say and do the right things.
