Is this worth clearing some room from my PS3? If it's only a beta and isn't even on for long.

Well I think you want to try this beta out before you "definitely get this when it comes out". You might find it'll be a waste of $60.

I doubt a large team based game will ever do well on consoles, small teams like L4D and CoD are already borderline retarded. Hell, even the team dynamic in BF2 is mostly gone.
Still, it's a great opportunity to play it for yourself and see what you think. I read reviews also, but nothing beats actually playing the game myself.SEREVENT wrote:

K. So I downloaded it. Played it. And I must say it is quite enjoyable. Now how long that enjoyability will last has yet to be seen. But overall, I like it. And I've seen more teamwork in this beta, then in BC. Period. Plus, If at least two people have a mic, you'll have almost the entire squad working together towards one objective. Though being able to spawn on your squad-mates would be helpful.

I played it briefly tonight, as I just got back into town, I was not real impressed but jet lag could have something to do with it. I may give it another go before the weekend is out.

Quite a good aricle on itDuring the course of the beta we encountered very little lag or chugging frame rates. In fact the whole thing's a more solid offering than some 12 player games can manage online. The only real downside is the wait it takes to get everyone in a game; about half an hour on average so have a magazine handy. Once you're in, though, the action's constant and while it takes a bit of a hit visually - with occasionally bland textures and the odd blocky model - overall it doesn't look bad. And come on - 256 people!
