Try reading my post next time. I never said it makes you good, just gives that little edge and makes playing the game a more pleasant experience (Runs a lot smoother). It IS a built-in bug that has turned into a feature (they fixed the fps-physics dependency and circlejumping bug for quake 2 but reverted them back because people cried) and it would be stupid not to use it.

Then again I remember you saying hardcore is a better game mode than softcore so arguing with you is useless I guess

The irony.

A book which was referenced in two of the greatest games ever made has a setting that can be directly compared to what is happening in the gaming industry right now.

Oh the delicious irony.

Spoiler (highlight to read):
Go read Fahrenheit 451. Then play System Shock, Dues Ex or Bioshock. All feature nods to the book.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

I think the most fair review I've read is this one from GamePlanet - it's pretty much exactly what I thought it would be, (without playing it,) although with added hype-and-dissappoint factor I'd have probably knocked it down another point to a 6.
If you didn't already read what a community had already decided about this game, that review alone is enough to put you off buying the game, full stop. Even if it was priced at £9.99 you'd be hard pressed to actually want to buy it.

I firmly believe that for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 that our console review is spot on the money. It is a 95% game for those platforms, it's a great contender for Game of the Year and it'll probably sell better than Tamiflu. Unfortunately however, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the PC is simply a next-gen console game with mouse support, in-game text chat and rudimentary graphics options. Infinity Ward have made it pretty clear that as a PC gamer, your platform advantages don't count, and neither does your community, your history and your considerable modding skills.
That was a great review, Ty... the guy knew what he was talking about, and clearly had the CoD-background experience for comparison. A spot-on conclusion, methinks.

it was a damn good comparison, too bad all the people blinded by their infatuation with the ease of the game don't think so. i get so much shit from the console gamers at work for saying this game isn't that great (for PC) even after i give the obvious reasons why.

console gamers are entitled to love this game... they don't have much, to be honest, to be excited about otherwise. xbox360/ps3 revolves around < 5 'big' titles that offer satisfactory, long-term play... for them, this next piece of reskinned shovelware is a Godsend. the article really covered the development and history of the PC-CoD scene well though, discussing the evolution and huge success of cod1/cod2 and the importance of the PC community on infinity ward's rocketing success. this latest offering is an insult, really. so has the PR/marketing cheek - video interviews of various IW/Activision staff telling us to "just wait and see" now seem in retrospect as being nothing short of offensive... playing on the huge assumption that all PC gamers are as stupid and easily-satisfied as the ADHD console crowd. non, nein, no.

i'd still buy this game just to see what the fuss is about and make my own opinion, but there's no peeking. removing leaning/peeking from an FPS game that has supported it for 8 years is such a huge regression that it's borderline atavistic. makes me feel disgusted as an fps gamer.

Score keeps dipping for the PC version:

Wouldn't be surprised if it ends up at around 75-80 or so while the console versions stay at 96.

Maybe it's just differences then. I prefer just playing normally and not using all sorts of bugs to my advantage and shit like that. You prefer to have a game where you can use all the nasty little things to your advantage. I've always preferred hardcore over normal. I don't like that gaydar red dot crap, and I like it when guns are actually powerful, people play better in hardcore, they play more carefully and thought out.

This goes back to you wanting all the little advantages though whereas I want as many of that crap gone and the playing field a more level one.

It's not stupid to not use little bugs and glitches. It's actually what you call being normal and decent. Something you'd obviously never understand. The fact that you think it's stupid if someone doesn't use bugs and glitches, well surely that says everything. Fuck that.

I knew all of the shit in the CoD series, doesn't mean I used it. Only rarely. I can't see how someone could think it's fun or skillfull to use all the lame glitches. Did I feel stupid for not using what I knew was there? Hell no, I'd have felt more stupid using it than not. It's just a game, If I would need to resort to doing dumb shit just to succeed then there would be no point of even playing in the first place.

Good times misreading posts. I wouldn't mind if everyone locked their fps to 250, the game is indeed much more pleasant to play that way. I do not lock to that to get advantage and stomp players that don't use a sweetspot, I do it to have a better working game. I would not mind if they fixed the bug and made gun firing speed not fluctuate if FPS fluctuates either. I just won't let some gay "I want o play all default settings" principals stop me from making the game as good as possible for myself.

And your comment about hardcore having better players? Just lol. Hardcore has a third of the challenge softcore has. You can just kill anyone coming near with one shot from ak/deagle/g3. Good skills there. By "they play more carefully and thought out" you must mean they camp 90% of the time. Good skills there too. And talking about guns being powerful, ffs they are already overpowered in softcore.

Hardcore is awful. I mean, the guns already have mega damage-per-second, and no deviation or recoil, so making them more powerful is just absurd.

"Hardcore requires more skill because it's harder to get one bullet to hit by spraying than by having to control your gun to land 3 or 4 shots"

This makes so much sense I'm joining a CoD4 competitive hardcore team right now

Just read that review listed on the metacritic site.

http://www.gamearena.com.au/pc/games/ti … id=5033868

Well. Yeah. That's about how good I expected it to be. I cannot believe sites like IGN just glossed over the multiplayer part as if everything was fine and well.

hardcore has always sucked.

it completely changed the gameplay and feel of the cod1/cod2 proscene. it's shit, a lame attempt at realism in a game where the weapons and engine just don't 'work' with 200% damage. part of the thrill of the original CoD games was being able to use superior skill and aim to kill someone 1v1, even if they had the jump on you... hardcore removes that element by turning the game into some rudimentary and mindless 'i see you first, i kill you first' game.

IW doesn't buy reviewers out, Activision does. You think MW2 would be as it is if Activision wasn't the publisher?

Well I think we can all safetly eat our words and apologise to IW for making such a ruckus about their decisions. They obviously knew all along what was best for us.
That's not PC specific.  Got quite a few of those on the 360 last night.

Same.

Although I don't think he'll go as apeshit as many people have. He'll probably just make fun of all the people going apeshit over it, yet still tear into it with his own style. It'll be great.

Nah, watch the review, all the illistrations of him playing the game, he's on the PC.

He'll probably just play story mode. From what I've seen the story is fairly ridiculous and has more twists than a DNA molecule, so he should have fun with that.
