Don't bother with a 6970, you can just get a 6950 and flash/unlock it to a 6970.Computer_Guy wrote:

fixed it with some different clip things once, a hairdryer another time and an old pc fan the third time. They're designed really really badly inside. Might try the oven on it, its covered in capacitors though so I don't want to risk it.FloppY_ wrote:

Yeah but how many people actually know they can or feel they have know how to do it. Don't think of it as charging less for the version that has locked feature they are simply charging more for the unlocked one, so the really you can see it as the hardware being equally "cheap" also it's cheaper to manufacture 2 cards at different price points on exactly the same assembly line.FloppY_ wrote:

No point in using the oven. Let it provide it's own heat. Wrap it in a blanket, pay special attention to blocking any fan vents. Run it until it shuts off. Leave it wrapped in the blanket until it cools, then try it.

Yeah, piece of shit design. Mine was still *just* under warranty, despite being really old but because i'd peeled a tiny sticker about a quarter of the way off when I was fiddling with the faceplate it didn't count.

I had something similar a while back that was to do with an update that messed up playing flash in browsers, the way I fixed it was to remove all traces of flash from my pc then reinstall the full, most up to date version. Worked fine and haven't had any problems since.

you don't have to re-install all the programs. take a screenshot of your "add/remove programs" and when you re-install windows,Jaekus wrote:

that's a very good advice. I used to use an old version of Norton ghost to make image of my system. Clean install+necessary software. It took only 5 minutes to restore your whole system in case of software conflictsburnzz wrote:
