Holy shit. That's the best idea ever.

I've often thought about sticking those little plastic clip thingies, that you nail on to the wall to guide cables along, to my desk for that purpose.

Like, a little plastic loop that fastens shut when you nail it in. bout the size of a small coin (5p), or w/e.

I know exactly what you mean. Pretty good idea.

Hmm, I need to get some smaller bulldog clips. The only one I have here is too big, my phone charger falls back through it. But then smaller ones might not be able to grasp the desk ... dilemma!

Solution: Stick lump of Blu-Tack on cable big enough so it doesn't fall through.

$30 off coupon from their emails on that, so actually $109.99 for 2TB.  With S&H and taxes total is $132.99.

y/n?

(On my last 1.5TB, one third filled.  With this 2TB it'll put me up to 11TB storage)

I will eventually, its just too much work at the moment.  I move around these drives between computers, houses, TVs, etc a lot.  I really have to build a NAS, especially so its backed up.  Nothing at all is atm

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

And none of the RAID options seem great to me.  Maybe unRAID?

Ordered the drive.

how about this, recommend an upgrade gfx card for my aging 8800 gts 320 mb. 2x express will work for my mobo. Looking for significant upgrade, but not over $200. I know there are some good deals out there. Anyone up for a challenge?

RAID 5 is pretty secure. One drive goes down, you just pop another one in and it'll rebuild itself. Only downside is you need dedicated parity drives.

Would take years to rebuild.  Also its not great for huge amounts of data

How do you discover a Macbook on a network from a Windows PC and vice versa?

Okay I can see the Macbook from my Windows 7 PC, but can't see the Win7 from Mac. I thought this was just supposed to work?

Works fine with every other Windows computer on the network.

Yeah if you are using homegroups...

Just make sure filesharing and network visibility is on

I'm not using homegroups. Filesharing and network visibility are both on.
