The Senate voted 83-7 vote to deny housing and community grant funding to ACORN as a result of the scandal surrounding the organization.

Who were the seven senators who believe it’s appropriate to continue funding an organization that’s under indictment for voter fraud in 13 states?

Here they are:

    Dick Durbin (D-IL)
    Roland Burris (D-IL)
    Robert Casey (D-PA)
    Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)
    Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)
    Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
    Bernie Sanders (I-VT)

Please note that six of the seven are Democrats, and the seventh is a Socialist.

Also please note that it’s increasingly difficult to distinguish between the two.

Durbin, Burris, and Sanders don't surprise me.  Leahy does though.  He should be experienced enough to see that ACORN should be separated from government funding when the level of corruption involved is too risky to throw tax money at.

And while it is true that many socialists still support ACORN, there are others like myself that still care about ethics.

I suppose Sarah Palin might have been right about something actually...

He wasn't the only news snob in the Politico piece. Dean Baquet, Washington Bureau Chief of the New York Times and one of the country's top black newspaper editors, also snooted that he should take any scoops from Glenn Beck:

    “For Glenn Beck to devote 45 minutes of his show to ACORN and Van Jones says more about his news judgment than mine,” said Dean Baquet, Washington bureau chief of the New York Times.

    "He’s not a newsman and that’s not a news show,” Baquet continued. “He’s not trying to cover the economy, two wars, health care, the aftermath from one administration to another, negotiations with Iran or North Korea.”

It's one thing for a TV producer to try and claim they don't have time for fraudulent federal grant recipients. It's ridiculous for a newspaper editor to charge they don't have space for it.I like Ten7s post there.

I'm a civil libertarian, which means I'm Libertarian on most social issues.  I'm economically a moderate socialist.

ACORN isn't an economic organization, they are a social organization.

America is economically a moderately socialist country--we have a moderate portion of our economy controlled by the government.

This Acorn stuff is beyond belief.

Thought this would lighten up the story, but the truth hurts. I don't doubt Washington D.C is stifled with corruption. I'm half way done watching a 7 part HBO from the letters of John Adams. Gives me strength knowing what we have here is not gone, entirely. Keep your head up, ears open, and act accordingly.

LOLLOLOL suffered  "extreme emotional distress." Shouldn't have been soliciting how to evade taxes, conspire to submit federal loans under false pre-tenses, etc, etc.

I say this case dosent get much merit when the Judge sees it.

ACORN's motivations are economic.  The idea is that the poor need help in getting registered to vote.  So, it's a social cause created by economic issues.

I don't think that's really the idea, that's just what they say they're trying to do.

If you look at what socialism is and what a mixed economic model is, yes we are. We are a moderately socialist mixed economic model, with a moderate portion of our economy controlled by the government.
