Apparantly there is a batch of new 20p piece with out a date on them. As it currently stands the London Mint office will give you £50 if you return it to them. However it will no doubt be worth more in the long run! There are roughly 200,000 of them in circulation and none of the buggers are in my pockets, change jar or down the back of my sofa!
On the new 20p the date is on the same side as Her Majestys head

200,000 coins 10,000 registrations available on their website. You have to be registered to claim your money. Hmmm. I don't think all 200,000 people will get their £50.

Thats intresting. However in the future when people have lost the coins and all that the coins will be worth alot more as this is a very rare error on the part of the London Mint office.

Still l wonder how many people who have read this have just dropped everything and gone rummaging around there gaff for the coins!?!

Yeah, if I find one I reckon I'll keep it. Will probably become a collectors item.

edit: and you won't be getting £50. It will be £49.80 Unless they send you a replacement 20p coin in addition to the £50.
