Same old bf2s. Maybe i wont spend it all, im not even up to date on what is on the market nowadays i never look at computer parts/speeds of parts anymore but im guessing its pretty fuckin fast. $2000 ain't shit to me anyway.

So I'm still running a Q6600 (with thermal paste...) and a 8800GTS 512, and 4 gigs of RAM Everything works pretty well (cant use AA in BFBC2). Assuming I grab a new video card and processor think I should be set for another couple years? Mobo, HD, PSU all will handle it.
Well you'd be looking at a new mobo and ram if you wanted to upgrade the processor. There isn't much point upgrading to another 775 socket CPU.
Get an NZXT Phantom it's lush
If it was an E6600, sure.. There's some life in 775 yetLittle BaBy JESUS wrote:

This is my reasoning on purchasing a new rig once BF3 comes out.Little BaBy JESUS wrote:

All of the 775 CPUs are shithouse thesedays.
And I need moar RAM. Shit gets used faster than a whore with coke.
noice
My point was that if he wants to upgrade his processor from a Q6600 the only 775 processor worth it would be Q9560 which is $340. Which isn't really worth it when you can get a i5 2500K, Motherboard and 4GB DDR3 RAM for the same $ and with way better performance.Finray wrote:

The Q6600 is still not a bad CPU, it beats most Phenom II quad cores still.
A Q6600 should still last a few more years, if you've got that and at least 4GB RAM you'd only need a decent GPU for BF3. Any quad core with at least 3GHz will be able to play any game good. I know the newer ones are still faster clock for clock but for games it doesn't really make a difference for framerates.
If I had a Q6600 instead of upgrading CPU/mobo/ram I'd spend it all on top of the range GPU

If I had a Q6600 at home, there's no way I'd be considering a new CPU until at least 2012. Even my P8600 would be satisfactory if it weren't for the fact that this Vaio is starting to get occasional blackscreens and that I don't feel like upgrading disk capacity on a laptop without eSATA.

Makes perfect sense. Statpad with your own 3 profiles. awesome!11 Bravo wrote:

Why do you want 8GB of RAM? 4GB is more than adequate.Little BaBy JESUS wrote:
You can get
i7 2600K
2GB HD6950
8GB 1333Mhz RAM
Gigabyte P67A-UD3
Antec 300
Antec TP-650
for $950 so I think people are exaggerating on price a bit since that would run the game fantastically.
Was just an example, a lot of people like more RAM for different purposes. For gaming 4GB is enough but it is basically the minimum for a new computer these days. More and more people are going for the 8GB option, especially when it comes to Sandy Bridge builds.Jaekus wrote:

Oh ok, I just thought you meant for gaming.

What about a AMD X4 955 @ 3.6GHz, 8GBs 1600, and 5770? I'm hoping I won't have to upgrade too much when the time comes.
I've got the same vid card, I'll be looking to upgrade to something like a 6970 when the game comes out.
8GB RAM is overkill for gaming alone.

The HD5770 might struggle a bit, depending on your resolution/graphics settings.Naturn wrote:

Because at over 4GB the differences are not really noticeable.
Can all this upgrade stuff go to the bf3 rig thread please, this is about BF3, not what you're gonna upgrade to play it. You'll find it Just under this thread.
I had a dream I was playing BF3 last night.
It was fucking awesome.
