Probably because BF3 is little more than a polished turd.

Although there were other titles released between them, there were 5-6 years between BF2 and BF3...and look at the amazing improvements we got with all that development time: less "true" destruction than was present in BC2, pisspoor clientside detection and generally abysmal netcode, shoddy map design on maps that are actually smaller in overall scale, etc. etc. etc. Now imagine the greatness that will result from designing the next title in half that amount of time.

BF2 was a game that could make you think DICE had maybe, just maybe, created the best multiplayer FPS game (and franchise) ever. Now it just seems like BF is fated to be the "next CoD". Anyone who thought BF4 was years down the road and would un-do all of this premium nonsense and the "inevitable" shift towards microtransactions, was nuttier than squirrel shit. The writing is on the wall.

I don't blame DICE for trying to beat the competition at their own (very profitable) game, literally and figuratively, but I just hope some developer with chutzpah steps up to fill the void. There are still plenty of people who want and expect more from their games.

It's a comparison that really doesn't favour the new map. Fushe Pass was massive, and filled with canyons, hills, twists, turns, forest and built up areas, whereas in the trailer, the new map is a big flat desert. Well done DICE for making a big flat map with nothing in it.

I know the map does have built up areas as well, but not in the trailer, and comparing it to Fushe Pass is pretty stupid. Compare it to Highway Tampa if anything.

I just realized, that's maybe only the second actual forest to appear in this game.  And the first snow.  As well as the first actual desert (firestorm is more like an urban map with a desert in the background).

I wish they had been doing this the whole time...   oh well, better late than never.
