Battlefield 3 - Main Thread

As pathetic as this sounds, I feel like a better, healthier person after quitting BF3. I feel like my life has improved drastically. I feel more productive. I feel content.

It sounds like you and the other 8 million people who bought BF3 and no longer play it have something in common.

I'm really interested to see how well the 1st DLC sells.

I'm the opposite. I wanted to like this game and get to a point where I was playing ~20 hours a week just like BF2. I'm a bit gutted this game wasn't as good. I still play, but it's in much shorter bursts and usually as a break from other gaming.

I was the exact same.

And I continued to play for a while after the patch, but the amount of time that I could enjoy the experience decreased with each passing day. When it got to the point that I could hardly stomach a single round, I knew it was time to hang up my guns. I think the only reason I kept playing is because I've spent the majority of my gaming time over the past 7 years playing BF titles, and literally didn't know what else to do.

Games like Diablo 3 are a fun distraction for a while, but FPS and RTS games seem to be the only type of game that can keep my attention for months to years. BF3 utterly failed in this regard.

A significant patch before the first DLC will probably get me to play the regular game again if they simply un-do all of the suppression bullshit. But it's obviously never going to be a BF2 successor in anything but name.

Played some bf2 last night, even after 600+ hours it's still good fun. Although there are still people who can't fly or gun helos, even though the game is 7 years old.

Got bored of bf3 after 80 hours... sad.

i think the only reason i still play this game is out of habit. that and playing with bf2s guys and carrying piss poor teams to victory is fun for a couple of hours.
