As far as salvage, I'd like to " salvage " what's in those train cars. chica chica booom.
Use that to blow your insurance's building if they don't compensate for the loss

But really, that's such a shame. What are you planning on buying to replace it?

A nice framed photo perhaps, until the economy recovers.

Id be straight back there with a couple of sheets of plywood, ropes and a couple of mates. You gave up on your bike to easy ATG.

I talked to the towing company out there.

In that muck there is one tractor, three jeeps and about 12 motorcycles.

And, it's not over yet; I had to come home to get man power and supplies. It's not just stuck, the engine has salt muck all over it.

I have to ask though, why would you ride there? Or did you not know there was quicksand there? Cause for one guy on a bike on his own there seems to be a lot of potential for death. And it wouldn't even be a good death, like coming up short on a 90ft kicker and exploding in a fireball.

From reading his first post its pretty obvious he didn't realise the presence of that crap till he was into it.  On the surface it'd look pretty dammed close to the rest of the earth, when your on a motorbike it'd just seem like another normal bit of ground. Exactly like the past say 20 miles or so that he'd covered.

ATG eats death for breakfast!

Id put a 1.2x2.4m sheet of marine ply on each side, and bridge an engine lift between the two and lift it up and out. Or, take the insurance money and buy something you can be trusted on.

I think they are going to insist on a tow, which is not covered and will be about 2k.
Repairs to the bike may be covered. The bike is only worth about $2400.00 and I will have a $500.00 deductible.

Maybe I should drive back out there and push it down farther.

You said something about Nitrate potassium right?

You went there and there was no more bike, just a crater.
