I'm seeing alot of mixed opinions about the 1.5 patch. We got 1 side that cheer on the delay that was added to the prone/jump. We got another side that says it changes gameplay too much. Well, here's my 2 cents (or rather million dollars because I'm just so ownage like that):
The side that cheers on the added delay (most of them from the posts I've read so far), state that the delay will separate the true "good" players of BF2 with the macro/spammers/leaguers. I decided to experiment. Me, being a spammer and ringer with lots of experience, had to dumb myself down. I admit it, the first 2-3 rounds were kind of hard to adjust to, I was only able to walk away with ~1-1.5 KDR. Maybe this side was right, maybe I truly am just a spammer.
But wait, within those 2-3 rounds, something clicked. In the 3rd round and up, I started getting 2 KDR, then 3, then 4, and ended off my final round with 7 KDR. What's funny is that several of the server players started complaining that the delay didn't fix shit because they saw me spamming. Funny how the cheerful now become the whiners. So what say the cheerful now that the supposed "bad spammers" have adapted while you are still stuck in your "realism" world? Oh I know, you're still getting owned by the "bad spammers" and will complain to EA to increase delay to 5 seconds.
I've also noticed that a lot of the people that voiced their opinion FOR the delay are very recent players (ie. within the last 1 or 2 years). The people that voiced their opinion AGAINST the delay are generally veterans (ie. familiar with it for 3-4 years). Within the extra play time that was put in by the veterans, it's obvious that many newbies will generally express disdain for tactics used by these veterans. You go to games like UT and CS and introduce it to newcomers and they usually get put off by it because they simply cannot keep up with the years of experience afforded by the other players. So it actually makes sense in a social way that newbies would complain and it also makes sense that veterans would complain that newcomers are changing the game that they have been playing for years.
I've played BF2 since Day 2 of release and have been through all of this. When the delay was first introduced, the "newbies" applauded it and the veterans complained. Within a span of a month (around a month I think), the "newbies" said the delay wasn't enough because the veterans managed to adapt to it while the "newbies" didn't. This is the same thing, all over again. I guarantee you, within 1-2 months, the majority of the newbies will be either complaining that the delay is too short, or they will just stop playing altogether because they give up. You should bookmark this post because I swear by it (technically I don't need to swear by it since I'm a God, you should be swearing to me).
Once a newbie, almost always a newbie.
I wish I would suck more sometimes just to make people feel better.
