The next Team Fortress 2 class update is only a week away, as Valve officially announces a February 24th release date for the Scout update, with new features revealed on a daily basis.

Yes, the speedy Scout is finally getting his due next week, and Valve has launched the official website for the class update, with daily updates leading up to the big day. Today's update features a new weapon for the Scout in the form of a baseball bat called The Sandman, which allows the Scout to smack foes from a distance with a baseball, dazing them for a period of time that increases the farther the ball travels, giving the player time to run up and give their opponent a few whacks about the head.

Brilliant! Being incredibly fond of those speedy little guys, I'm officially clearing my calendar for next Tuesday, at least for the half-hour it takes me to realize that I suck no matter what weapon I am holding.

I think the no double jump trade off it pretty good, so long as he only loses it when he has the SandMan equiped. If it's holstered and you've got the sawn-off or Mauser out, you should still be able to double jump.

Wouldnt be much of a trade off then would it? All you'd need to do would be hit q, space then q again and there goes the bats only tradeoff. You'd get 'switch to scattergun, jump, switch to Sandman' scripts within hours.

It'll be the entire time you have the weapon equiped.

Nice one for removing another grain of skill-sand from the rapidly declining hour-glass. Great to know that to empower the Scout-playing 'skilled players', they gave them a gameplay mechanic that completely disables the other player's ability for a period of time. Anyone else remember a day when Valve said they would retain the competitive balance by never adding any speed-slowing, class-disabling effects? Lol, what an idealised dream-era that was...
