So, I found out today (due to an article in the local newspaper) that most people don't know they can help animals in their own community very easily.  I can't speak for all cities, but I volunteer at two of them here in Columbus.  They have simple programs like walking the dogs or playing with cats for example....among other things of course.  It's so simple really that I would highly recommend people give it a go.  Even if you can only walk one dog once a week for 15 minutes, that is the best thing in the world to that dog for that period of time.  They basically pull you out the door they are so excited to go for a walk.

Here is an example of the one I go to.

Not for everyone, but if you like animals, this is a must imo.

I'll walk my own dog, thanks. And I'm allergic to cats.

Plus I look after 4 rabbits and about 12 chickens. And my pet cockatiel.

But I suggest others volunteer. Pets are rewarding. Take care of neglected ones.

I volunteered at my county's SPCA 2 years ago...a good experience. Even if it's only for a few weeks, everyone should do it.

I've done hundreds of hours of voluntary work with disabled children and adults. They deserve my attention more than a cat tbfh

Is this a joke? usmarine has a soul? I'm too sensitive, and I would probably fall in love with every dog and want to keep them all.

Hey now, I'm not trying to put other volunteer services down or anything! Any one is good, but I really loved volunteering with our SPCA.

Some chick where I work had to bring her dog with her today, and I was playing with it and stuff, made me realise how awesome dogs are and how much I want one.

I just sent an enquiry thing on the RSPCA website to do something like dog walking, I'll see what happens but I think I'm going to get too attached to one of the dogs and then be really pissed that I can't adopt it or something.

Dogs I like.  Dogs are friendly, loyal, and sometimes useful.

Cats.. meh.  Useless, prissy, filthy stinky little animals.

Dogs/Pets can be fun, but I wouldn't want one. Too much responsibility and I don't like the idea of getting very attached to something that is almost certain you will outlive

Don't be silly mek. As an emo your life is short and meaningless.

Plus you can always buy a parrot that lives to be 80 years old, to be on the safe side.

I mean seriously, how many emo 80 year olds have you seen lately? None with parrots either, I'll bet.
