The British Government has agreed to give loyalist paramilitaries another year to decommission their weapons. Legislation facilitating the move expires in February, but Northern Ireland Secretary Shaun Woodward says he will extend the timeframe into 2010. Mr Woodward is insisting, however, that this extension will be a last chance for loyalists to avail of the protections included in the legislation.

Yawn... it's funny how most news sources make it seem like the Republicans are the ones not fulfilling their end of the bargain when there is talk of impasses and obstacles for the Government. These idiots have not turned over a single bullet and yet there's no problem with any of the Unionist political groups sitting down at the table for power-sharing.

Yeah one rule for one, one rule of the other. Fuckin DUP & UUP are never off our TVs saying they won't devolve policing and Justice because the IRA army council hasn't been disbanded long enough. While you never hear a peep out of them when it comes to loyalist paramilitaries who are still armed to the teeth. Still carrying out punishments, still dealing drugs, still extorting their own ppl.

Our Assembly was down for months there because Sinn Fien wouldn't meet until the Saint Andrews agreement was fully implemented. ie devolution of police and Justice powers. In times of tough economic problems the country was going ape shit, Republicans included. Because, the DUP were blaming the Sinners for blocking the Stormount meetings where they were to ratify a fuel poverty Bill, New Planning laws etc holding the country back.

I personally was one of the Republican's screaming at Sinn Fein to meet. (Personally the new planning laws opened up more work which I am desperately in need off) but now looking back they where right. When Justice and Policing is devolved and Republicans have a say then maybe a tougher line will be applied to the Loyalist groups instead of this British messing about.

Personally I think the Loyalist have one over on the British and are dictating their own timetable and getting away with it. The British army and RUC have colluded with loyalist death squads. Its now an established fact. Imagine how many other cases of collusion with the British forces the Loyalists paramilitaries have under their belt to whip out if they don't get their way. Whole thing stinks tbh.

cracks me up how the media keep talking about the "14 year Loyalist ceasefire" - no mention of the sixty + murders carried out by them during this time. Unionists bang on about how Sinn Féin have failed to jump through their latest hoop, like this current notion of theirs that the "Army Council" must be disbanded & how it is a block towards community support for Policing and Justice. then they refuse to back Margaret Ritchie when she tried to bring pressure to bare on Loyalist decommissioning by removing funding from  community initiatives. In fact they brought her to court!! and said it was illegal.  Talk about hypocrisy? Sure I wasn't too far from a Loyalist bomb viable device the other day, something needs to be done about this kind of shit & needs to be seen to be being done about it .... quick-fucking-sharpish... imo

WTF do you guys expect? You rebelled and waged war on the UK. You think you're going to get fair treatment?

It might be hypocrisy, but it's the way the world works. After all, the IRA are rebels who tried to 'free' Northern Ireland. Since when were they ever going to get fair treatment from the government they attacked.

So flecco to what ends mate? why did Loyalists  leave blast bombs near a children's play area in south Belfast yesterday? Four devices, described by the PSNI as "viable", left near a kids cycle park.  Now what political purpose does that action serve? what does it achieve do you think?

No idea, maybe it's a feeble attempt by a group of men to revive a war which made them relevant and gave them a purpose. Maybe they are the last of a dying breed of extremists who sense the death of their perspective and philosophy and wish to enflame things again to ensure future generations will share their opinions and ideas.

I didn't say any of it makes sense. I just said that the IRA can hardly expect a fair go from a government who they were at war with.
