Incredibly cheap train tickets. Aberdeen - Blackpool = £18. I have no idea why they were that cheap but they were. Both ways.
And the reason we got the train:
Nice day out at Blackpool
. For those that don't live in Britain, Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a very very old amusement park on a tiny plot on the coast of North West England in the middle of a town. Back when I used to live in Crosby near Liverpool I could see the rollercoaster from the beach, and that was quite a few miles away from Blackpool. It has some
very old rollercoasters. We went on the Big Dipper that was made in 1923, and the Grand National that was made in 1934. They're damned rough compared to modern rollercoasters. The Wild Mouse is the roughest of them all though.
Also Valhalla is the bests themed/water ride i've ever been on. Themeing makes such an incredible difference it's unbelievable.
What else is great about the park is just how much they've managed to cram into the tiny space. Every ride goes over and under several others, and the paths and restaurants do the same.
We also went up Blackpool Tower and stood on the glass panel 400 feet up. It was pretty scary the first time but then it was fine.
All in all it was a great day out. Sunny, still. Cheap train, cheap B&B, went on a tram, cheap tower and cheap pleasure beach. The whole trip cost about £80.
None of my pictures because i'm not at home to upload them but they all give a decent idea.
