So I'm planning a working holiday to Canada next year, much of the time will be spent in Montreal and surrounds (got a mate who lives there, planning to stay with him to save on accomodation). Any recommendations or tips that you lot can provide?

Humm, even tho i live in Québec i dont quite know Montrèal. But i guess that a trip in the Old Québec city is a must...You would also have to go at "Chez Paré". Other nice things to see in Montréal would be the Basilique Notre-Dame.

That's all i can think off right now. Guess its not bad for someone who have been there once, and not even in the city itself. If you want to know more and such just ask me, it will be a pleasure.

Chances are at least one road trip is in order. My mate owns a car and will be free from school by then.

That and I'm thinking of spending a few months there, not all of it in Montreal. Definitely not all of it in Montreal.

been to montreal tonight, dont fucking go there. they cant drive. never used my middle finger so much before...
But then again if your friend already lives there, he might be used to it.

some things off the top of my head in montreal that you can visit;
- olympic stadium (dont think there's much to do there but its dam nice with it's inclined mast
- bell center (go see the montreal canadiens play)
- bio-dome
- insectarium

just things i remember, might not be the best but good luck.

Watch the fuck out for cars. Red lights mean shit in Montreal.

Other than that pay a visit to La Ronde for some wicked amusement park rides
Other things to note are the Biodome, Insectarium, go for a Hockey game Visiting old Montreal is worth it too, Mont St Anne if you like to snowboard/ski, les chutes MontMorency, and the Ste Anne church.
