I need some back up here on building a new computer

Well I need a new computer and I was thinking of using most of the old parts from my current rig ant transplanting them to my new one. The HDD, DVD drive and the PSU. So with that in mind could you guys please give me a parts list of every thing else minus what i just stated. My budget is a maximum of $500 Canadian, a GFX card is not overly important I can always ask for one for xmas. Thanks in advance for the help

my bad lol current specs are
AMD 3400+
1GD DDR 400MHz ram
7800GS (AGP)
160GB HDD not SATA the older cind sorry I cant remember what it is called) (iam not very TECH savvy)
PSU is an ANTEC one its 650w
motherboard is an MSI CPUZ is not giving me the full name of it

If i cant I wont salvage the PSU but I stimm want to keep my HDD and DVD drive

some bits may not work with other stuff, compatability is a bitch in computers, but it's also essential otherwise your brand new shit will just be sat there like a paperweight.

well the HDD is IED i think its called its the older typle and the DVD drive uses the long connector thing I dont know what its called its no SATA

the mother board is MSI MS-7142

I donot know how to find the brand or name of the DVD drive there is nothing on the front
