It will be going along with Simpsons for a long time.
South Park isn't really 12 year old humour, though I admit when I was 12 I did still find it funny.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

Different people with different sense of humour, no need to rip on people for that.

Calm le fuck down. I really do like southpark, up until most of the episodes in this new season. It's funny as fuck most of the time, but with some of these recent episodes...it's in decline and I'm not the only one who thinks so. No matter what it does though, no matter how much of its loyal base it turns away as the show goes to shit it will stay on the air with petty bathroom humor and because of the mere fact that it is South Park.usmarine wrote:

I like South Park more so the logic and creativity that goes with in stepping above and beyond comedy.
You just can't predict South Park or any good cartoon/Tv series that's been around for that long.
Most people here will or should be interested how South Park is going to portray the upcoming elections with Obama and McCain.
As for this episode, it did catch me off a little surprised. Not so much as that their point was being made about how Indiana Jones was butchered but how they portrayed them as metaphorical rapists to actually convicting Lucas and Spielberg as real rapists. Which was funny. Not that rape is funny though...
I and most people were disappointed with the new movie for the Indiana Jones series. The only thing that I really liked about the movie was how they factored in some history around those times in the 50's and having easter eggs that tie back into the other movies. Other than that it was garbage.
Apparently Russians had broken guns or they just couldn't shoot for shit in the 50's.
Laws of physics didn't apply. IE Nuclear Bomb, Cars Crashing, Instant devouring Fire Ants?
Aliens... Enough said.
With this movie the series went from Good History(sub Fiction)/Action to Sci-Fi/History/Bad Action.

I'm sorry but I found every bit of it hilarious.
Thanks for the karma, don't know what a lowbrow is though...

Lucas did the same for Star Wars, too. I blame it on all the computer generated shit. I mean, Star Destroyers from the 1970's looked more real than they did from 2004.... because the ones from 2004 were fake, the ones from 1970's were actually real models used with lighting and trick photography, etc.
The new Indiana Jones/Star Wars were created simply to make as much money using as little creativity as possible. A lot of people my age and even people who were around when the originals came out won't know the difference, because they're really just consumers. No appreciation for quality film making.

Well the thing I've always liked South Park for is it's combination of low brow toilet humor and high brow satire. The low brow part in this one was obviously Butters shooting people in the dick, and the high brow was their criticism of both nativist attitudes/stereotypes, and their attack on Lucas and Spielberg for messing with the movies.
And FM, SP actually has less toilet humor now than it used to. Go watch the earliest episodes and some more recent ones, there's allot more satire in the newer ones.

I've watched all of it.DoctaStrangelove wrote:

I know it used to have more...but it still has plenty to classify itself as tasteless i.e. biggest shit in the world, nuke in Hillary's vagina, gay men and hampsters...I mean really, it's funny but it's not classy.
The problem I have is the satire has gone to shit. Seasons say 6-11 had a lot of funny social commentary, probably peaking at season 10, but this latest season has been really disappointing. In more than half the episodes the satire has been bad and the lowbrow has been mediocre at best. Give me manbearpig and a bunny pope.
Humor is individual ... it's nobodys task to rate what others find funny ...
Wait behind the line ..............................................................
Lots of people say that...and yet there are whole professions dedicated to telling people what is quality and what is not in subjective fields.Varegg wrote:

You can make an advice but people must find out for themselves if they think it is funny or not ... you waste your time thinking otherwise ...Flaming_Maniac wrote:

No you're wasting your time if you are reading other people's opinions to media, whilst knowing that those opinions will not influence your actions regarding that media.Varegg wrote:

I thought it was a regression of South Park, to be honest. Not enough emphasis on the satire or intellectual jokes, like in more classic episodes, such as the Tom Cruise episode, Die Hippy, Die, and The Losing Edge.
Exactly.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

So you base your opinion on what other people write on a subject rather than forming an opinion yourself ?Flaming_Maniac wrote:

If every single review I read says something is shit, I'm not going to waste my time most likely. If this keeps up, I probably won't watch season 13 unless people say it's the best thing to hit television in years.Varegg wrote:

The Canada on strike episode is one of the finest examples of this (WGA - lol). This weeks episode placed a lot of emphasis on one of their traditional gripes, that of crappy sequels - particularly from Lucas and Speilberg (remember Free Hat), it also dealt with the China issue in a fairly subtle and interesting way, with a nice little "What I've Learnt Today" speech from Cartman at the end touching on some interesting stuff as well.
I thought Super Fun Time, Eek a Penis and Britney's New Look were all a bit shit - but there were crap episodes in season 10 as well, just look a Stanley's Cup, that was terrible.

South Park would be a much better show if they toned down the immature humor a bit - still risque, but not the level of crudity it has currently. The sophomoric jokes detract from the satirical value of the episodes, I think. Classics such as The Losing Edge had noting overtly sexual or anything of that ilk, but still managed to leave me truly astounded at the quality of the show's humor. Maybe they make more money appealing to 12 years olds, but for me, the excessive use of this humor compromises the potential of the many of the episodes.

It´s defintly the best one together with the day before the day after tomorrow imo. Agree with Nuk would be nice to see them making more of that stuff.Bertster7 wrote:
