The activist group called "anonymous," best known for its jousts with the Church of Scientology, has apparently hacked into the private Yahoo e-mail account of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican candidate for vice president. Contents of that account, including two sample e-mails, an index of messages and Palin family photos, have been posted by the whistleblower site Wikileaks, which contends that they constitute evidence that Palin has improperly used her private e-mail to shield government business from public scrutiny, an issue that had already been raised by others.
Source.

(I would link directly to wikileaks, but their site isn't working for me right now.)

Thoughts?

It's similar, yes, but is Anonymous politically aligned?  Or did they do it just to be a bunch of jackasses?

Personally, I am bothered by the lack of respect for privacy.

One person associated with a group of people suddenly makes them all involved in this situation.
Also, HACKING makes it sound dramatic, it's clear he just guessed the password or brute forced it.

Bleh story. Also a group of 16 year olds with the internet are not an 'activist group', for the record.

Privacy...psh...don't you know that once you become famous you are officially public domain...I mean...isn't that why the paparazzi gets away with stalking?

The article attributed the group 'Anonymous', not me.  Also, isn't gaining unauthorized access and use of a computer, network, account, etc... pretty much the definition of hacking?

I thought it was absurd, and I only brought up political alignment because of the comparison to Watergate.

i'm sure 'hacking' the account meant guessing the password.  which was probably really easy like 'hockeymom' or some stupid shit.

Yeah, the "Plumbers" of Watergate were not politically aligned either.

No, no, I know Watergate was done by Nixon supporters.  I was asking if you knew something I didn't as to whether this was of political motivation or just general asshatery.

Well I'm just saying, this wasn't 'Anonymous'. In the same way that 'Anonymous' didn't threat to bomb football grounds. One single person thinks he has the right idea and associates himself with an e-gang to get backup and hide himself within the numbers.

It's an image board, nothing more.

I don't have any inside information at the moment, and I haven't heard any of my normal "deepthroats" saying anything ... I'm just basing my current views on past patterns.

Both parties have their criminal elements, and I would guess that this was connected with the criminal element of the Democrats.

I doubt it, just someone who wanted to make the news. They do plenty of stuff like this, just usually no one really gives a fuck and it doesn't make the news because they aren't doing it to a vice-presidential candidate.

Anonymous means 4chan. 4chan is not alligned. It's not a group either, it's an imageboard full of internet superheroes that couldn't care less about anything but their internet connection and porn folder. Check www.4chan.org if you want reference.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories ... I'm only saying that politics is very, very unethical behind the scenes.
