Well, I figured we might as well have a thread for talk about the game as a whole.
I got the game earlier today, I'm not blown away by it, but its pretty unique, makes for a nice change of pace from stalker.
I played for a few hours, have to say at first when I did the Cell stage I was a bit like but I got into it and decided not to take it to seriously, which is where I think you really get to enjoy the game.

Played a bit of creature phase as well before the game crashed and I lost ALL my play
Looked pretty promising.

So what does everyone else think?

I'm not saying EA sucks cos me dieing 10 times, I'm saying EA sucks cos of the login issues and their incompetence. If me saying I died 10 times and EA sucks are in the same post (not in the same sentence) that doesn't mean EA sucks cos of me dieing lol. Comprende?

how can a company that grosses 1.4 billion a year FAIL at this again and agian ffs...

I don't get error messages and now I'm leading my second civilisation just into Tribal Phase.

The game is good- refreshing, nice to play something different. Everything can be customised and it wraps a lot of 'mini-games' into one big experience pretty decently. The graphics aren't brilliant but considering the sheer scale and range of graphics in the game I'm not all too fussed. The actual aesthetic style suits the game a lot I think; the cartoon-style really sets it off and makes the funny parts of the game all the better.

This point is repeated in every single discussion since FOREVAR- EA are the publishers, not the developers. If you're unhappy with something that is part of the game's design then you're better off crying to Maxis because EA had very little do to with it. I didn't pay for the game *cough* so I can't really comment on how good the online-parts are, but in theory they seem awesome! Sporepedia as well as all the other cool little online statistics/community stuff really looks brilliant- adds tons of things to the sort of online-sharing we saw in The Sims.

can somebody help me im having this problem

hello,

i am getting a invalid cd-key error without even having a CD-key,
i have the standard Spore edition and downloaded with EA downloader and i am getting the fillowing error "the registrationkey is in use for this game and cannot be confirmd"

Note i have the game in "Dutch" so the translation may not be properly

The online is an extra-bonus part of the game, your playing experience is hardly any different just because the game doesn't download species at random from a web-server, or because you cannot view some pointless statistics on a webpage. Also you should know that popular and overhyped games such as Spore don't launch smoothly... it's basically an impossibility . Every popular game that has ever launched with online play has had hiccups and server problems for the first week. You can't expect everything to work flawlessly on launch-day when thousands and thousands of people are hammering the authentication and registration server at once.

Torrent ftw indeed anyway... I didn't pay for mine out of principle; I'd rather see the games industry shrivel up and die than take any more steps towards encouraging this DRM-protection / SecuROM crap. That was the main mistake that EA made in their capacity as the publishers... poor distribution format.

indeed, the closed+ open beta was alsmost 5 months together.

if i make a project with a server with a network but it fails i cant say " lol hiccups and crashes are normal grade me in about one month"

Honestly, the reviews are much lower than I expected for a game this hyped up and from someone like Will Wright.

87's not bad at all, it's just less than expected.

The more I play, the more I like it, tribe stage is awesome, tho I'm pretty bad at socialising, whenever I try I just get attacked. Can you socialise when they have an orange face against you? Or how do you give gifts?
