Nice one, Chief.

Gs while I understand your rage at what Spit was saying, you seem unaware of the The Posse Comitatus Act and the Insurrection Act.

Perhaps you out to look into that because as a citizen of the Gawd blessed U>S>A I felt rage at what you said about using AVs on civilians.

Okay then, why even bring it up in a post addressed to me?  You're associating me with someone I dont have a connection with, like I just did to you.  It goes both ways.

FEOS wrote:

But Obama's followers have been saying the experience isn't important...but now it is. That makes them hypocrites. See how that works?
Nope, not at all.  No one has ever said experience isn't important.  That's why picking Biden might look inconsistent to people who don't understand the situation.  TBH its all Hillarys fault.  Now the Repubs are capitalizing on the damage she's done to Obama.  No one ever said experience doesn't matter, it was Hillary Clinton and her people who claimed that experience alone is why Dems should pick her over Obama.

I think the paragraph above is the most important so... I hope that clears things up.

FEOS wrote:

And you're entitled to your opinion. I'm also entitled to mine. I think that any rational person who reads about both of their experience will see that Obama is no more qualified for the top job than McCain's pick for the #2 job.
Thats perfectly fine, I honestly dont care what you think or who you vote for.  I'm just saying, from my view, it doesnt make sense.

FEOS wrote:

You don't have the slightest clue what I think. Of course I care who the VP is, but much less than I care about who the President and Cabinet are. It's called understanding the likelihood of the President dying while in office...which is not very. That low likelihood makes the President and his advisory and policy-making body (the Cabinet) far more important.
Well, you were the one who asked the question "Why do you care who McCain picks for VP".  I think its relevant, so, imo at least, picking someone who has similar characteristics of your opponent, and with which you were attacking them for having, is just a tad hypocritical.  Maybe I'm wrong.

FEOS wrote:

Obviously there was a misunderstanding.  You referred to Obama sheep, even though that has nothing to do with what we're talking about.  Both sides have tons of sheep, so to me its a little pointless to bring it up in a debate.

I'm sorry if I offended you, I think I've done this before sometime, lol, but I misunderstood your tone I guess.  I was also being just a little sarcastic about the right wing whackjob/card carrying democrat thing.  They're polar opposites and everyone knows there's more than just two categories.

Not really, since you say you don't see how Obama's followers are being hypocritical now for arguing against something they said was unimportant before.

I don't quite get the whole vote or die thing. It may seem irresponsible, but what does it matter if you already know the results?

To me not voting is just as much of a statement as voting. I don't vote because I already know the results, not because I don't care.

Why is this constantly the American retort to any European cynicism?

You do realize the royals serve no 'purpose' to us as a nation anymore? They're a gimmick, a tourist attraction. The droves of American tourists that visit London and Buckingham Palace every year 'care' about the royal family much more than your average British citizen. They may make the news in our tabloids once a week but that's only because our media is celebrity-obsessed like all Western media outlets, and it just so happens that the free-loading snobs are public figures.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable or unrealistic when I say that the American media dramatises and turns political news-events in a soap opera. Especially in comparison to Britain. Over here our Parliamentary debates and electoral campaigns feature a bunch of greying men in suits talking wistfully into cameras, or the exciting alternative of a roomful of jeering politicians talking about obscure pieces of legislation for 3 hours at a time. You have huge 'scandals' and smear-campaigns targeted at soap-opera topics such as family pregnancy or a candidate's religion. Election rallies and conferences draw huge crowds of cheering supporters waving banners and flashing slogans. Whole different ballgame.

Haha! About 3 years ago, funny episode that was . And it was only covered in the sensationalist working-class tabloids or the pussyfoot political-correctness broadsheets for all of about a week. How long has it been now since the American media and opposing candidates have been making up stories about Obama and his background? It's a pantomime!

A democratic process is equally important to every member of every society, I could argue.

You have a bigger influence on the world stage but that doesn't mean our mentality is "Fuck it, we won't vote for our Prime Minister because our country doesn't happen to have the largest number of nukes or the biggest military spending budget". People in dictatorial third-world countries don't stop urging for democracy due to a sudden overwhelming sense of inferiority .

Your statement is undeniably true... but doesn't it worry you even more then when the vast majority of your electorate and voting population wants to bitch and gossip over the VP's pregnant daughter? Or the religion written on Obama's official documents? It's irrelevant and has nothing to do with how they'll run your colossal superpower of a country!

Less than half our populace votes, if the news agencies pandered to the majority they wouldn't be looking at the people who vote. Honestly you're making a bigger deal about this than any voting American has on these forums.

Because it worries me that the actively-voting and intelligent members of this Forum want to debate such topics more often than a candidate's fiscal policy or their foreign policy Of course these threads have been discussed and not altogether overlooked but in contrast it's quite surprising to see 10-threads in a day spring up about the Palin-pregnancy, with one reaching 20 pages!

And yes God the jeering and laughing in Parliament is pretty good. All 12 people that tune into those live casts probably get a good chuckle out of it. But for the most part (and I myself have sat in on Parliamentary debates in the public galleries of the Houses of Parliament and the Welsh Assembly) it's all boring dross.

oh wow, Im hearing new stuff about her as we speak on TV. It has more to do with her quality as a potential VP than her having her pregnant daughters baby.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/ … 7224.shtml

"Officials of the Alaskan Independence Party say that Palin was once so independent, she was once a member of their party, which since the 1970s has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States. And while McCain's motto -- as seen in a new TV ad -- is "Country First," the AIP's motto is the exact opposite -- "Alaska First -- Alaska Always.""

ouch.  god job McCain.  Make Nancy Grace attorney-general next, she has olvaries too, shell get ya some votes.

Now that's discussion worthy! Haha, brilliant.

Would like to hear a little more about this "was once a member of their party" part though-- could of been 20 years ago when she had a very different approach to politics. Dragging up that sort of dirt from a candidate's past is an easy way to win votes for the opposition though. At least this time it's actually about her and not her politically-unrelated daughter!
