An old run a few months back. Sadly, I can't get any higher with the processor because there is a BCLK limit.

A more serious one will come once I'm done overclocking my new Q9300

A somewhat disapointing result, my motherboard isn't capable of pumping enough juice into my CPU, and as a result that's the best overclock I could get.

I'd be amazed to see this updated, lots of pages to sort through and what not. In any case, here be the death throes of this system. This silly Gigabyte board won't even POST at 420 FSB, so here it is stable at 419; 12.433 seconds @ 3.77 GHz.

Last update was only a page back, so there's only, what, 4 or 5 to put in?

There's barely been any posts since then, and since I've been quite busy the last year and a half, I haven't really had time to update it.

But I'll see if Openoffice can manage to read the table, in which case I'll update it today. If not, anyone is free to make an updated table and send it to me for posting. (I'm looking at you, Finny)

EDIT: Okay, Openoffice failed. Someone else gets to do it.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Can someone please explain what's going on here, in a nutshell?

I have a vague idea but not quite sure.

It's a benchmarking program which show's how fast your cpu is...ish.

I did one with my AMD CPU, not all that quick but I haven't o/c'd it, and it's a dual core unlocked to a quad so for what it is I'm happy.

What is it clocked at without speed step? (Or whatever AMD call their variation of).

Speed step? I don't know what you mean, it's just stock settings, other than the unlock to quad.

In the screenshot it's running at 0.8Ghz.. this is due to a technology called Speedstep on Intel chips that underclocks the CPU when it's not under stress to increase it's lifespan. If you stress the CPU (just running SuperPi would do) it'll increase the speed of the CPU to its maximum speed.

Which, reading your sig, is 3.1Ghz.

Oh. I was totally unaware of all this. I did open up CPUZ and take that screenie about a minute after I did the test, so it probably reads really poorly.

Not my best but I my numbers mixed up when I hit 9.867 so I didn't screen shot it.

Unfortunately I seem to be stuck at a fairly low BCLK on this board so this is as good as I can get.
