I want to get a list of BF2s members that will be getting the beta.  Maybe we can get a latter together during the beta.  Whats your guy's thoughts on that?  Does anyone know the exact date when the beta is suppose to hit servers for download?

Closed (invitational) beta is supposed to start this week, and the open (KW beta key holders) is predicted to start next week.

Also with the open beta people who registered their keys the earliest will be given slots first, as not all slots will be given out immediately.

The closed betatest for Red Alert 3 starts today on Wednesday in Europe and tomorrow on Thursday in North America. The game content is finished as one of the developers said during a presentation of the RTS game in Munich. The following months until the release in October will be used for balancing, detail work and bug searching. Also the just started betatest shall contribute to this. In general, all players who had bought a copy of the Tiberium Wars expansion Kanes Wrath can participate and register with the betakey on the Redalert3.com site until September, 15.

This week it starts just for a low amount of chosen players. EALA wants to allow more and more players in for the betatest after that. This way they want to ensure that the servers won’t be overrun and that the developers have time to deal with the incoming feedback. Also the journalists have to be patient – only in a few weeks we (the magazine’s journalists) are allowed to join the Red Alert 3 betatests.

However, the developers have already revealed what the beta will contain. All three factions, the Allies, the Soviet Union, and the Empire of the Rising Sun are playable with all their units and structures. At the beginning there will be two Multiplayer maps (one 1vs1 and one 2vs2); a third one shall follow later during the betatests, presumably. The coop-campaign is not contained as usual for a betatest. Concerning this one, Electronic Arts wants to reveal more on the Games Concention in Leipzig (Germany), at the end of August and with some luck Red Alert 3 will be playable there for all visitors. (More of the today’s presentation and our first battles with the Japanese will follow in a few days.)
So the game is done and they have 3-4 months to balance it and fix bugs. And with the beta lasting until the end of September they have ample time to do that.

The reason that not all beta positions will be released at first is because of the constraints of their servers, they can't take everyone right now. Also the earlier beta versions will have more and bigger bugs and imbalances and at this point only having so many people on is enough to get all the bugs and imbalances.

The funny thing is the the newest C&C games still have been getting good ratings even though EA ate Westwood a long time ago.  I still think they would have been better/different but EA has not done that bad of a job.

An E-Mail I just got

EA wrote:

Comrades,

If you are receiving this e-mail then you are officially registered for the Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 Multiplayer Beta Test and are in our queue. Soviet Kirov’s bombed our beta test satellite communications around the launch of Kane’s Wrath in a deliberate attempt to halt our initial beta test communication e-mails to you upon your registration. While they were successful in their attempt, we were still able to retrieve all data and have continued to collect Beta Test registrations in numerical order since Kane’s Wrath shipped. We’ve recently reconstructed our communication technology with far better systems and defenses and will now be sending you frequent updates throughout the course of our multiplayer beta test. So fear not Comrade, we did not forget you!

The Red Alert 3 Multiplayer Beta Test is set to launch publicly very soon. When we activate your registration, you will be sent an e-mail with your Red Alert 3 Beta Test key and instructions on downloading and installing the beta. As previously mentioned on our website, we will activate registrations for the beta test based on the date & time in which you registered on our beta test website with the serial key from the insert contained in your copy of Kane’s Wrath. We may also consider the country in which you reside as a component for when you will be activated in the queue as we are aiming to get global feedback in as much as possible for our beta test. If you registered for the beta test within the first couple of weeks, it is very likely you will be activated close to our first public launch. We will then continue to ramp up and activate registrations weekly, and potentially even multiple times a week. We will activate registrations primarily based around the status of our software. Certainly if we are experiencing any super critical issues, we will halt activations until they are resolved. It is our intent to start the beta test small, and make every effort to quickly ramp up to thousands of players in a matter of days and weeks throughout late-July and August.

We’re committed to collecting your technical/bug and balance feedback and improving Red Alert 3 before we ship later this year. If you are receiving this e-mail, you will absolutely be a part of the Red Alert 3 Multiplayer Beta Test. This is the first of many communications. We wanted to give you a general update that the Red Alert 3 Multiplayer Beta Test is slated to go officially public very soon.

You may have heard that we have actually already started an internal-only testing period this week called “EA Friends and Family” where we are using a few hundred people to work out any potential technical issues with connectivity and the state of the game. It is our intent to collect constructive feedback from you during the beta test; however, we’re spending a few days doing an internal-only trial run with friends and family of our development team, including all studios of EA.  If you’ve heard rumors about our beta test launching today or even this week, they are referring to the process noted above. We have not activated any keys in the public queue yet however, so don’t worry…you’re not late to the party!

We have also opened up our official Red Alert 3 Beta Test forums where you will be encouraged to post your constructive feedback to help us improve the game. Since the beta test is starting to trickle out, we chose to open up this forum section early during our trial run. We will make sure to keep it updated with sticky threads and updates and certainly the moment we start to activate people in our public queue, you will hear about it on our boards and via e-mail communications (hopefully one of those e-mails will be your activation key if you registered early!)

Get ready to wage a crazy war with the Soviets, Allies, and the Empire of the Rising Sun, the Red Alert 3 Multiplayer Beta Test will be activated soon.

I doin't believe it .

I registered the key back when I got KW. Months and months ago. I got no notification whatsoever that it had been a success or not but I heard that was the case so I assumed it had.

Just now I go try again.

"You have successfully submitted your information for the Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 beta program. Once your beta key has been verified you will be added to the priority list"

So does that mean that since I've registered mine so 'late' I'll get into the beta months after everyone else?

Yeah, but everyone with Kane's Wrath is guaranteed admittance.

And Yoda, you'll eventually get in, even though you'll likely only get in for the last week or so.

You had to have been logged in with your EA Account for it to have worked.

As far as I remember I did. I don't think it lets you do anything at all until you sign in in fact.

First public beta begins today.

EA wrote:

Hey everyone,

I am purposely making another sticky thread to update you to ensure everyone reads this.

Earlier today we had to make an emergency change to the current "friends and family" build which was being hosted at FilePlanet. We asked them to pull the current build down. When they did this, they put up their standard temporary page which had misleading information that our beta test was for Founder Club members only.

Everyone, this is false and inaccurate. The official word on our Beta is still the same. If you bought Kane's Wrath and registered on our beta test website, you will be in the Beta Test in the process of which we've described multiple times. Yesterday we started sending out update e- mails, everyone who registered through the website should have received this e-mail update.

Please make sure you are checking the e-mail account tied to the EA Account you logged in with when registering at the Beta Test website. For most of you, this is your official EA Master Account e- mail.

Now, all that said, we are posting up a new build on FilePlanet tomorrow (Saturday), and will begin to publicly activate the first 2,000+ registered users. Yes, that means if you were one of the first 2,000 to register on our Beta Test website, you will likely be playing Red Alert 3 this weekend You will receive your activation e-mail.

For the rest of you, like we said, we will be ramping up the Beta as we get more comfortable with the software. One of our primary purposes for doing a Beta Test is to weed out any serious technical issues so when the game officially ships, we've fixed them. Thus, we are rolling this out slowly and will ramp it up to thousands and thousands in a weekly process, maybe multiple times a week. The software will dictate that.

So everyone, please ignore what you read on Fileplanet, yes it is true they have a small amount of keys for FP subscibers, but those will be given away in a lottery some time next month.

The only way you can get in the Red Alert 3 Beta Test is if you purchased Kane's Wrath and registered your key on our Beta Test website. Luckily, for 99% of you, that means YOU.

If our plans change for tomorrow, we will let you know, but everything is looking good for our first small public launch.

Apparently the public beta's first release got moved back to Monday. The current build had more problems than originally thought so it is pushed back until Monday, however Monday's release will contain more than 2000 people to accommodate for the delay.
