Why would you give it 7, then?

I didn't mind Valkyrie, it was a nice watch and was well shot.

Watchmen for me too. Not going to rate it, it's kind of difficult to rate on a scale of one to ten. I had never read the graphic novel and I imagine that it flows a lot better to one who has seen it. That being said it was still engrossing and a great movie to watch, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

By the way Doc Manhattan increasingly choosing to go commando was a symbol of his gradual retreat from humanity. At least that's what I gather. I do appreciate the unflinching portrayal of the male genitalia. Most other producers/directors would have turned Manhattan into a Ken doll which isn't needed. Half the population has a penis and we should be grown up enough to not be offended or shocked by the damn thing.

Anyway, it was different from any film I've ever seen before and I've seen numerous films which like to be different - very few of them pull it off successfully. This film did. I had a very very loose idea of what to expect but even then I didn't come close. Opinions will differ but I say if you're tired of the same old Hollywood shit go see this film, (if you don't mind some graphic violence and a blue dude's willy.)

Good music too, (aside from 99 Luftballons.) Liked hearing ol' Bob at the start, (very fitting.) I kind of wonder what Leonard Cohen would think about his scene...

I'll tell you what though you don't want to be the guy everyone's rooting for in a Zack Snyder film. They always seem to get killed off somehow, (although always in a noble way.)
@ Doc Manhattan's floppy flaccid fuckstick - Yes, that's what I've always gathered was the reason he decided to go without clothes.

and lol @ Leonard Cohen. My friend and I were cracking up so hard during that scene. Not only due to the extremely long, drawn out, unnecessary length of it, but just the fact that they used that song. Hil-fucking-arious.

Well it was well shot and otherwise pretty ok. Just didn't feel anything special.

edit: might be because I watched the original before this.

I've heard Tom Cruise's accent kinda ruins the whole thing.

Can't. Not here yet. Will watch in a month or two probably.

I've met one of the guys who was consulted for historical accuracy. Runs a battlefield tour company based in France. We tried to book him for another 2 or 3 days extra to take us around Normandy after our WW1 tour but he had to go to Berlin for a meeting about this movie with the director and producers. Something to do with an expanding budget due to Cruise being involved or some crap along with filming starting.

Great movie. Made me a little uneasy and slightly scared, which is more than I can say about any scary movie or thrillers.

I had much higher expectations, since it's what the British film industry specialises in.  It was a really good performance by Hardy and that made it worth watching, but I thought the story was pretty weak.  It could have been much better.

The King - 9/10

It's completely twisted and fucked up, but definitely a good movie.  William Hurt, Paul Dano, and Gael Garcia Bernal should say enough about the acting, but the story is very original and well planned as well.

Body of lies.. extremely good except for Russel Crowe's character. The "I'm the biggest asshole in the world" was overdone. Give the audience a taste of it but don't make us choke on it. Still, it was good.

Wall-E

8/10

I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would . The almost complete lack of dialogue is rather unique and disarming. Spoiler (highlight to read):
When Wall-E became soul-less with his factory settings at the end i was sad. We'd really connected with the little guy.

Spoiler (highlight to read):
BUT THEN HE WAS OK AGAIN AND I WAS HAPPY

I wish more of it took place on Earth though. It did the whole wasteland thing a million times better than Fallout3. The ship seemed very generic and boring looking, and most of the film took place there.

Race scenes were well choreographed and amazingly managed to be full of action but still in the realm of reality. Very well done.

Just finished one of my favorites.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop. A normal speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side. This is wrong. It arouses contempt in the cop heart. Make the bastard chase you. He will follow. But he won't know what to make of your blinker signal that says you are about to turn right. This is to let him know you're pulling off for a proper place to talk. It will take him a moment to realize that he's about to make a 180 degree turn at speed, but you will be ready for it. Brace for the g's, and fast heel-toe work.

Got some S.T.A.L.K.E.R. atmosphere in the beginning which was cool stuff. But the plot, I don't know if it's the flu that's starting to act up why it was hard to follow but, the rest was odd as hell. Spoiler (highlight to read):
Why the hell did the church want the girl in the first place? And did she die in the end or what? Not enuff explanations imho for why she could do what she did. The messy plot scratched two points from the score
