There did it myself. No more pointless arguing please, i'm not really in the mood

Well, this is the kind of thing I really wanted Valve to do and here it is .

http://www.teamfortress.com/

It's a dev blog where they can write about what they're doing on the game. Before we were completely in the dark until an update was released or announced with large 'dark' patches in between. This new blog will hopefully give us an inside look at whats going on, why changes happen etc. There is an RSS feed.

The first post is about concept art for the Flare Gun. Nothing too exciting but a nice taster for whats to come .

Actually, they describe the blog a lot better than I do

Robin Walker wrote:

Now that we've settled into regular releases of content, we've found ourselves wanting a better way to talk directly to the TF2 community about the state of the game and some of the reasoning behind the choices we're making. Our hope is that this blog will accomplish that, and give everyone some better insight into our development process as well.

Our hope is that we'll be providing you with a variety of interesting things to read, whether you're a hardcore TF2 player or whether you've just started. We'll be going into the details behind some of the gameplay, posting a bunch of the concept art we haven't released before, and showcasing the great content the community is creating.
The second post details how the Medigun works, in that sometimes it heals fast and sometimes it heals slowly.

The third update is talking about the TF2 trading cards. They were created during development, and never went into full production. There are pictures of the Engineer and Demoman cards, with promises of more posts about the cards in future . Here's the thread I made about them a month ago, with pics of more cards than are shown in the blog.

The 4th is about the challenge of making unlocks for the Heavy . It's quite detailed and a good read.

It looks like according to the TF2 development blog that the Heavy is next and although the unlocks have in no way been finalised yet I did manage to dig up this tremendous looking weapon. Sasha's days are numbered.

What on earth is that?!

It's a BOFORS cannon. As it says. It was a ground based Anti Air cannon in WWII.

I saw that yesterday on the Steam forums. I'm kind of on the fence. I think it's fake, but a well done fake. But at the same time i'm not sure.

I was actually expecting something like this for the Heavy update but yeah it's probably just a very well done fake seeing as the TF2 Dev. Blog, (the only source I trust after so many hoaxes,) says that they want input from the community.

Who knows. Wicked gun though, I hope it is the Heavy update.

The blog is kind of vague when it comes to what stage of the Heavy update process they're at. It implies they haven't thought of anything yet, but it might just be written like that so we know what it was like to try and choose.

Anybody got any ideas? There's a nice brainstorming thread on the Steam forums: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s … p?t=698898

20mm Cannon would be a good idea for heavy, if they have it have less damage per-second but do small splash damage and have superior range then it would be a good alternative to the minigun.

The update today is 2 more cards. You know the small piece they write about each character when they release a Meet the team video? Well with the last card update we saw that it's written on the cards too.

Todays cards are the Heavy and the Medic, so we now know a little about the Medic . Which is even making me bump him to my number 1 guess for the next Meet the Team video.

Here's the Medic's bio

They have really good goals but there's one unlock where I feel that they failed in that respect and that's the backburner. It's an outright buff to what pyros are used to do and makes them have more HP than a soldier while still running at full speed (300) while the soldier still has to run a lot slower (230).

Mmmm I think the +50 health simply shouldn't be there as well.

You never know how much health the enemy Pyro has, and it gives the Backburner Pyros a downright advantage against flamethrower Pyros - even if they're not using the flamethrower at the time.

It gives the Pyro the means to just charge into any enemy head on from miles away and do a lot of damage. The description even says its for ambushing Pyros, but the +50 health means they don't have to ambush, or even have any strategy at all. They can just tank their way fowards.

Also, if they've been buffed by a Medic they have a massive 350 health. More than a Heavy. People say 'a good soldier can kill the pyro before he's even close', but with that kind of Hp, you just cant.

I think the +50 shouldn't be there.

But never mind. When I think about it really I don't have trouble killing them as a Soldier. Or any other strong class. I get a fair few with the old backpeddle+blut tactic as well.

But its the principle of the thing. Before the Backburner every class had a distinct health-speed ratio. The BB broke this. He might not be the first.

To be honest whenever I go pyro these days I just equip the backburner and use the shotgun exclusively. If the +50HP wasn't there 100% crits for air compression would be a fair trade. I hope they get it right with the heavy (particularly since the rise in medics is still there). I'm pretty excited to see what they have in store for that class.

Here's my idea for the Heavy's new main gun unlock.  A Gatling gun resting on a cart.  What does it do?  Because the heavy doesn't have to hold his gun, he becomes faster.  The gun will fire slower to compensate.  For alternate fire, the heavy picks up the entire cart and holds it in front of his torso as a shield.  As a result, his speed goes back to normal while he uses this ability.  He also can't fire his weapon while using this ability.  What do you all think?

Sounds like you've just turned the heavy into a mobile engineer turret.

The update today is a good one .

Talking about new environments and like 'A Heavy Problem' it's a list of things you need to consider in coming up with a new one. There's also 2 concept pictures on the page.

I remember they said before the Heavy Update was announced that we'd 'probably' be seeing a new environment in the next official map, and they've also said that the next official map is a payload one and should be with the next class update. So hopefully we'll be seeing a new environment soon.

Oh wow, I'm loving those images, they look fantastic!! And as Acreta said, I'm hoping that the map (or even the final stage of the map if it is a Payload map like Yoda says) is based indoors leading to the silo. Maybe the explosion on this map incinerates everyone wherever they are

(think of the indoor section like the CoD4 mission where you go to de-activate the nukes near the end of the game)

Usually this blog has an update every week, but they're a bit late this time.  Maybe that means they're planning something big.

I'd like to see a payload esque map with those concept art images posted. Definitely.

Maybe like...the cart's hauling ignitor that switches the rocket on, and the last thing everyone sees is the rocket flying up and hitting the red (or blue, whoever's defending)'s base. That'd be kickass. But I'm asking for a bit much.
