Punkbuster broke?

Got CoD4, played it for an hour. I come back to play again and after 1 minute or so in a mp game I get kicked for "PnkBstrB.exe not initializing".

I tried BF2 and now after joinging mp on that I get the same error.

I updated both game via the pb website to no avail. uninstalled Cod4 2 times and reinstalled.

NO Luck.

when I install now, CoD4 says cannot install PnkBstrB.exe because file already exists.

Should fix the problem.

When you try to install it you may get an error message, reboot and use the installer again and it should be fine (had to do this on a couple computers recently - must be something with the patch, maybe the patch and pam4, i dunno)

Similar problems - everything was running fine, then suddenly repeated initialization failures. Manually updated PB, not helped.

Did it. No help.

SO CoD4 has not only become useless online but has screwed up all of the other game son my system that use punkbuster. What you say I notice the most popular fix and it doesn't work...very frustrating. Should have saved my 50 bucks.

What about it didn't work?
Also, try a punkuster support ticket (evenbalance.com/troubleticket) their pretty prompt.
