Cheapest shave:
Single-blade Bic disposable plastic razor, used until there's one cut per cm2.
You can go for weeks with no costs.
Just make sure to schedule more and more time in the morning, to prevent going to work with a bloody face.

Screw those Bic razors...

I have the Gillette Fusion blades and I can get through a number of weeks on one blade cartridge. One of the Fusion gel cans also lasts a number of months and they're not all that expensive. The blades are quite pricey, though, but there are often sales.

That shaving kit looks pretty nice, though, wouldn't mind getting a shave with something like that one time to compare.

pretentious to the max.

you're telling me the reason you bought it was because it was more 'economical'? you calculated that it would save you money... in 10 months? we're talking shaving gear here, monthly pocket change. you go to a barber's in covent garden for a shave like that, maybe once a year before a special occasion to feel spruced up. anything else and you're just indulging your own fancy - don't try and bullshit about money-saving!

It's only actually the initial outlay which is more expensive, it's cheaper in the long run. Think about how much you pay for some standard Gilette super gamer stealth fusion power pro 99 edition blades! They're like....£18 for 8 and each blade lasts a few shaves, so maybe a week. So that's a big cost outlay right there. Then there's the shaving gel which is ~£4 a can which will last a month or so.
Where the fuck do you shop? Also if each blade only lasts you a week, something is wrong.

A blade lasts me around a month, or so and they don't cost £18 for 8, more like £18 for 12, you can easily shave for under £25 a year, foam is a £1 a can too not £4

Yeah, it saves money after 10 months...I only mentioned that because someone mentioned the cost.

Also, now I feel special and spruced every other day! And yeah, I'm indulging, there's nothing wrong with that and I like quality stuff.

That's standard prices from a supermarket for Gillette blades and Gillette shaving foam.

Multi blade razors is 100% a marketing fad, the only benefit is the speed of the shave, but even that is debatable if you're an experienced DE shaver.

And yes, I feel awesome, that too

I'm actually really jelly, james. I can never get a decent shave with gillete razorblades after about a week of using them. Still very slight stubble on my neck. How much was the whole set?

Yeah it is, it's only a best badger, but still pretty nice. Might upgrade to a super or two tone in a few months, I'll let this bed in properly first though.

Yeah, I found the same with my Gillette stuff. Erm...

Razor - £30
Brush - £30
Cream - £8
Blades - £7 (30)
Bowl - £20

So about £95. But you don't really need the bowl, you can use a mug. So about £75 for the lot.  But I promise you it is cheaper in the long run!

Very tempting to just buy the razor on its own and use normal shaving cream. (I'm not like those two cheap fucks who buy value stuff, I get gillete). Think it'd still work well with that?

Nah, tbh it's the brush and the proper shaving cream that makes most of the difference. Then you can just get a cheap plastic DE razor. But a heavy metal one does has a nice feel to it, and is more effective.

yeah the brush lifts the hair away from the face and exfoliates around the follicles and stubble which is good for your skin

Also badger brushes are good for holding moisture in the hair so you can get a good wet lather, there's 4 different grades of badger hair (pure, best, super and silvertip) silvertip being the best and most expensive as the hair comes from the badgers chin and it holds the most moisture

Not really 100% smooth, I've never used anything else tbh, It does the job well enough for me... every 2nd day or so, mine doesn't grow especially fast

Close enough and convenient enough for me.
