What do you expect from Metallica's new album? I personally hope they make something in the style of Kill 'em All and Master of Puppets, with some fucking good guitar solos, something they forgot in St.Anger. That album sucks and I'm sure they know that. The release is expected for September. Meanwhile check this studio session.
After Shit Anger I expect more shit. What I hope, is that it will be as awesome as the old Metallica.

I personally doubt it'll be that good, what was interesting was that Dave Grohl actually sent a mesage to them via the press where he actually said that he listens to metallica and that they shouldn't release the new album till the were certain it was kickass.
The letter, posted on Blabbermouth, reads:
"Hey, it's Dave! Remember me? Yeah, I'm the guy that's been listening to your band faithfully since 1983. I bought your first album 'Kill 'Em All' from a mail order catalogue called Under The Rainbow, I think. Actually I can't remember. It was 1983 for Christsakes! But that album changed my life and I've been listening to your albums ever since (even 'St Anger'!).
"I can't wait to hear the new shit, and no matter what you guys do I'll always be first one at the shop waiting to hear it. I'm sure you'll come out and blow everybody's fuckin' minds, because you're fuckin' METALLICA!
"Good luck. And don't release it until it's kick-ass.
"Yours, Dave Grohl.
"P.S. Are you finished recording the drums yet?"

Garage days or better pl0x
I got into Metallica about 3 years ago. So I love St. Anger more than the other albums, I still love the other ones alot though.
Seeing them in 2 weeks = ]
But yeah, I expect they will take on board how many people didn't like the album and make it a bit more like their old stuff...

Wow, that letter is flattering and insulting at the same time. Lol @ even St.Anger.Noobeater wrote:

I understand where a fan of Metallica is coming from who has been with them for years. Just as a fan of Lost Prophets since the start I am severely pissed off at them going all emo. But the emos will argue they like their new stuff better because that's what they heard first.sergeriver wrote:

I got St Anger and listened to it ALOT so that's the Metallica I know the most, I still love the old albums a hell of alot. Hell that's why I'm going to Germany to see them!

Make yourself a favor and burn St.Anger. Listen to Kill 'Em All at least 100 times. Then let's talk again dude.White-Fusion wrote:

Probably more boring shit like most other metal bands these days.
♥
I have only bought about 3 albums in my life and that is one of them... so I want to keep itsergeriver wrote:

But yeah it's impossible for me to make long time fans of Metallica see where I am coming from, and I understand that... I can see how the old albums are better musically.
(Anethesia) - Pulling Teeth is my fave Metallica song of all time.
I hope not.Toilet Sex wrote:

This is what I heard. They are very disappointed with St. Anger. Lars Ulrich himself said that the new album was going back to Metallica's roots. I trust Lars. And watching VH1 Trujillo said they were making the new album with more guitar solos and songs like the ones that made Metallica what it is today.
I expect free downloads, as I'd never buy one of their albums again after their shit.
Kill 'Em All - Awesome
Ride the Lightning - Awesome
Master of Puppets - Awesome
...And justiec for all - Awesome
Black Album - Decent
Load, Reload and St. Anger - Rubbish
James needs to get his thrash vocals back in order.

The stuff they did with the San Fran Symphony is the only stuff of theirs I've ever listened to (only true metal band I've listened to as well) and that was friggin awsm. Though not sure I could listen to just them alone.
if this album does not sell well im pretty sure lars will whine like a little bitch and quit the band. then robert trujillo can join a band that does not diminish his talents. he does not play anywhere near his best being with metallica.
Grohl never wrote that directly to Metallica. It was just the media blowing things up againNoobeater wrote:

Grohl posted that on his website.. http://foofighters.com/ right on the front page.Dave Grohl wrote:
Just wanted to write a quick note to clear up this whole "Open letter to Metallica" fiasco......For the record, I never "wrote" anything to Metallica. I was asked by a journalist, at the end of a long interview (abut the Foo Fighters) to give a quick message to Metallica in the studio. So, I rattled that quote off the top of my head. No biggie, right? Somehow it became my "open letter" to the band, and now it's been picked up by everyone from Blabbermouth to Rolling Stone (as if anyone really cares!). Now, it's true that I've been a loyal fan of this band for 25 years, and I can't wait to hear the new shit, but an "open letter" to the band?!!?? Nah. Not my style. I'd rather just text 'em......
OK.......just needed to get that off my chest. Hope you guys are good. Thanks for coming out to the shows, they've been a blast. Only a few more before we crawl back into our cave and hibernate. It's gonna be a loooooong winter.......
Dave
And for the new Metallica album.. I expect it to be kickass, hopefully a lot better than St. Anger. I know that I'm going to buy it the day it comes out, so we'll have to see then.

Well, if they put out an album as shitty as St. Anger again then I'm done with them. But then again, the horridness of St. Anger can't be matched, so whatever is next should be at least slightly better.
DOUBLE BASS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!
I just happen to be listening to Metallica as I stumble across this thread.
