I recently updated my computer because of the BF2142 crashing issue, I updated to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924867/ and after that...well most of my games will not launch to begin with or they will experience crashes as soon as i start up a game. The problem with BF2 is when I get to the spawn screen the mouse will not move, its locked up. also when i try to press enter or try to go back to the menu, it will not let me. Also my computer is not locking up, its just the spawn screen as i can see people fighting it just will not allow me to spawn.

games that will not work thanks to windows update:
BF2
BF2:SF
BF2 mods
Rainbow Six Raven Shield
Halo
Joint Operations

Only games to work:
anything on Steam
Bf2142
CoD2

hopefully someone will know what to do because this is very annoying as i can only play a few games and im craving to play BF2: SF again.

Don't know what you tell you, man. I get updated from Windows Update all the time with no problems. If it's affecting that many games, you may want to reinstall your video drivers.

Run Microsoft Update, choose "Custom" and install everything that is available. (Except for video card drivers if they're there), then try this:

Go here: www.ccleaner.com and download and run CCleaner on your PC. Don't check anything under the advanced options under the cleaner part though. After running the cleaner, run the registry cleaner, (that's the icon under the cleaner icon.) It'll give you the option of backing up the registry before it changes anything. Run the cleaner and the registry cleaner a few times until it doesn't find anything, then completely shut down and restart the PC.

Did that help?
