Saw him in a server today. Well, let me rephrase that. I saw his name on the leaderboard. Funny thing, he had points. Why is that funny? Well, he was still dead and hadn't had a death on his stats. Look again and see he's the commander.

Wow, I was wondering why I could get a supply drop. He took commander at the beginning of a round, didn't spawn, and then just racked up the points while he was supposedly AFK. Or laughing. I don't know.

I saw him do this for three rounds, before an admin came into voice chat and I told him what he was doing.

Wow, I never thought of that. Since your command points come from your team, if he gets it and doesn't spawn, he doesn't die and still gets the points. What a chicken shit. This is certainly a loophole that EA should look at closing. Make it so that if you get commander and don't spawn with a couple of minutes, you are automatically kicked from that position.

I would have to agree with that position. That's even worse than jet pilot commanders.

Definitely. I've gotten more command time in the last 3-4 days than the entire time I have been playing; by necessity, not by choice. You have to work your butt off to keep scans/UAV, arty, supply drops, and spotting for your team. As far as I can tell it's nearly impossible to be a really good commander if you are flying or trying to command from a combat position.

I find that when i'm commanding on a 16 player server (I rarely play 16 player games though), it generally helps if I'm fighting too, bringing down enemy tickets faster. I don't play like I normally would though... I tend to fight for a few moments, check the commander screen, scan, spot, call a UAV if nessecary, respond to any requests, issue orders, get back to combat, repeat.

On 64 player games i'm always hiding though.
