Use the artillery strategically. By strateically I don't mean find the most red dots on the map and drop it there. I mean use it on flags that the enemy is trying to capture. Then you'll get extra points for defending the flag. Also I might get bashed for saying this but go around and capture flags yourself. Not the ones everyone is fighting for. The ones that nobody is at. You should know which ones those are with your sat scan.
It really floors me when playing Wake as the Chinese and the commander just stays hiding at the airfield when the enemy is about to cap the flag.

I got mine on a basically empty 64 player server. All you need is a good team and help them out with supplies and UAV. A good team will get you the points. I got the Basic Command Badge and Staff Officer Ribbon in the same round, which was nice.

The way i did it was spot the enemy that are close to your teamates, if they kill them while the red enemy dot is flashing, u will one point for every enemy they kill while they are flashing. will not work with the UAV flashing, u would have to spot them yourself. Also use the scan alot. Wait till the red dot disapears after the scan and spot the enemy again, they will begin to flash red. thats when u will get a point if your team kill them.

commander points are calculated like this.
the average of your teams points.
really, you ask? yes, really. nothing about getting points while the red dot is flashing, nothing about arty strikes, its just the average score of all your team mates. so if one of your team mates gets a score of 50 and another gets 40, youd get a commander score of 45. its as simple as that.+

your wrong cuz ive tried it and it works, nothing about team average. Dont believe me try it your self.
Ya a map like karkand is the best the men get in a huge bunch and then the arty comes.

I don't see how this is a problem... I rarely played commander... But this badge is about how good your team is and how long the map last.

I don't know how many people keep asking this question and ThomasMorgan is correct. It is the average of your teams score period.
I just played on a relatively empty Kubra Dam 64 map - round lasted for almost an hour and a half, I ended up with 132 points after the 2x, got my Vet Commander Badge, Staff Officer Ribbon and Distinguished Service Ribbon all in the same round...
play on large 64 player servers with few players say 8 or 10 per side and do a good job. the round should go on long enough for you to meet he reqs for the ribbon.
i have received both my basic and veteran commander badge but can not seem to get the staff officer ribbon. In the round where I received my basic commander badge, I received 124 points before the 2x. So that should have covered the 50 points IAR. Since then I have played commander for over 30 minutes IAR, sometimes 45 minutes IAR. So that should have covered the 28 minutes IAR. Also have received numerous command scores of 70+ before 2x. My basic commander badge did show up with my awards so I know the server counted my command score also.

You may not have been on a ranked server, maybe you accomplished this when EA was having the stat upload problems, or maybe you found a clan server where they didn't like losing and reset everything. That's why I don't play on clan servers.sting_like_a_bee wrote:

I know it's possible to get. Just two days ago I found myself on a team where no one wanted to be commander. I normally don't play commander, but we needed one so I took it. I managed to get my basic commander badge, staff officer ribbon, a silver star, and my highest game to date all in one round.
It seems that for the ribbon you need to have 28 minutes AND 50 points score. I noticed that it also counts as team average BUT from the moment u became commander.
The question that I have is how come - durring the round, when enemy has like 2-3 tickets left and my team is winning, I have lets say 30 points and then when round ends on the scoreborard I have like 48 points?! What the...... ?! In the same manner I went over 50 once, but never received ribbon... who can explain the difference between in round and scoreboard results?!

I got it by accident... didn't even know why I got it. I love those little unexpected awards.

tip: go fr the massed gruops like on a carrier or on a base(i got all of the above on wake island 2007)

lol I had 78 before the x2 and my friend had 122 before the 2x it's not impossible dude... just use tha uav where your guys really need it and drop the supplies just as they captured the flags and use artillery on any of the enemy flag, or when theres 8 of em grouping together to capture... and yo will get it=[4th]=$chofield wrote:

I've found a server who runs 24/7 city maps for 32 people, but the map size is 64 and it has 300 tickets, which last for like 40 min., so next time I'm in that server, I'm gonna be a commander and get me that Staff Officer Ribbon and my veteran Commander badge.

That's one of the key plays I used was to drop supplies on flagpoints just as they are captured. It's a pretty good bet that your guys had to fight off enemy troops to take it and could use some ammo/repair/health.{504th}T/4.Stryker wrote:

geeeez soo many people complain about commanding. personnally if the stats counted all the kills you make and give you points for them. i would never touch a vehicle or gun again. its incredibly easy getting 50 points before 2x. you just have to practice more. i believe that EA has made it so the higher rank the player is the more points it gets as commander. because when i see a SERGEANT MAJOR as commander and on the other team a STAFF SERGEANT the sergeant major has double the amount of points and HIS team are losing!!!. there must be an explanation for that.
I finally got the staff officer ribbon last night., whew.
Now about the War college ribbon.... Once I get the 50hrs command time, and 3:1 win:loss ratio will I automatically get the ribbon because I obviously got the IAR: 45 command points by getting the staff officer ribbon which requires IAR: 50 command points. Or will I have to attempt this task again, meaning get IAR: 45 command points.
I have noticed that awards with time constraints and IAR requirements, the IAR requirements dont seem to count until the time constraints have been satisfied. Meaning if u have to do something for 15 hours and also get IAR 20kills, you could get 20+ kills oneday and couple months later achieve the 15 hours but no award. Have to get the 20+ kills again. Kinda sucks....
Now about the War college ribbon.... Any IAR requirements must be done AFTER the global requrements are fufilled. Sorry man, you're going to have to get the 45 Commander points IAR again after you get the 3:1 ratio and the 50 total hours.sting_like_a_bee wrote:
