Just a few minutes ago I played Songhua Stalemate and decided to be a BlackHawk pilot, took the medic kit and jumped into the chopper. I called "jump in" and two guys did so. We started and killed some chinese who tried to take the flag next to the fishfactory (don't know the english name). Sounds nice so far, I know.
But then one of my gunners jumped out in the middle of nowhere. Ok, I thought "maybe his finger hit the wrong key, he'll return." I still had the other gunner, but what did he do? Shoot two or three times more, hit nothing and DID nothing anymore. Just sat there. He had the chance to get a lot of points while flying over the enemy base but... silence at the guns.
Some time later we were taken down and it started again: I jumped into the chopper, the same n00bs as before joined me and again one jumped out after a few seconds and the other was member of the peaceful Red Cross Society, but not of the USMC.
(Btw. the Red Cross is great, but in this game?)
So my question: Why did they do this?

Other questions: Why do ppl who request a pickup always block the only place where you could land so that you can't land without killing them? Or why do they run UNDER the chopper while you are landing and can not see them?

Did you ever notice that or do they just hate me because they want to fly themselves?

Maybe he was cammander?  If so he still shoulda took the back seat and left the gunning to others.

Maybe he was just on bathroom break?  Could've been a million things.  No matter the answer I sympathize with the frustration from this.  Many a time I've been in the back as an engineer and found myself looking at a slew of enemies, then turned to look at a motionless gunner and wondered why...

As to the helipad Q&A,  Whenever I'm loading into a chopper and it comes down, I'm frantically slamming the "E" so that I don't get the accidental TK from a Helo Bodyslam.  It backfires from time to time.... say a teammate grabs the last open seat a split sec before I get there.   Squish, TK, no punish though, ever.  I'm the dumbass there.

I know alot of pilots that don't land because of the above reason.  Just hover and let the invisible reload techs swarm like the pit crew from nascar and repair/reload your chopper.  Meanwhile, teammates can jump in without fear of becoming a street pizza.

he was not our commander and jumped in when I started again. (He was not in my squad so he did not spawn there.) So he was there.

And about jumping to get into the chopper: some do, but only when they stand next to it and so they get killed by the rotor

My guesses are:

1. The guy bailing out was trying to get his airborne ribbon.

2. The other guy was just trying to rack up time in the heli for his Helicopter badge.

There are far more appropriate times to bail out for the airborne ribbon, and your time in the Heli is counted whether you are shooting or not, so this guy just seems to be a tard of sorts.
