If i am an inexperienced player, well so are you !

You can brag about play-hours or combat score if you want, but fact is you have VERY LITTLE teamwork points compared to your played hours, if we go into that discussion.

It all depends from the point of view.

Back on topic:  i still would like the score-system to ENCOURAGE  teamwork  more, and the current AT-mines score system - with tk-punishment right or wrong - does the opposite.

.

I am not flaming you - but I didn't/haven't actually seen or checked your stats. I guess I could? But I based my opinion - on your attitude; your ideas about mines; not your points.

And more true is this: I SUCKED MAJOR when I started BF2, I didn't even try or care, it was just FUN to play, I got the purple heart FAST! My K/D ration used to be like 1:4 or 0.25, and all catagories sucked equally. Right now I might be getting a kill ration of about 2:1/or-up-to/4:1, or better but that is averaged back into when I totally sucked.

But getting back on point (actual thread topic) I still don't have a problem with someone punishing me for  (a) teamkill (or kills) - it does not bother me, even if I think it's their fault - because I could be wrong. The TK might have been my fault. Get over the word: "punish"; don't take it personal; nor are negative points a big deal either, its just a game - it is merely a bad choice on EA to impliment this feature in the manner they did, not the player who wishes you to have not teamkilled him.

Plus if you think your good/experienced and your playing with so-called stupid noobs, YOU are doubly stupid for setting traps that retards will fall into most assuredly.

If you get "punished" for TK-ing with a mine - maybe you need to stop laying ILL placed mines.

Well topal, when do we draw the line between an ill placed mine and a retarded driver?

'cause surely it can't always be my fault.

Okay. So when I'm *standing* ontop of my mine, so the teammate *doesn't* run it over, but then runs me and the mine over... ... ... this is still my stupid fault?

Most anoying i think is when people stand still for a moment, look at the mine, you think aahhh he has seen it he wont walk over and then your teammate thinks, lets walk over it!!! BOOOMMM ! punish

YES and NO. . .

The TK that he did by running you over - his FAULT, he's a retard.
The TK you did with the mine in front of a RETARD - your fault for thinking a retard wont run a mine over.

I should not get punished because another player is a retard.  He should.  If I do something stupid, I don't mind getting punished, but if I get punished for someone elses stupidity, that is BS.

oh, so now its our fault that retards play the game?????  so its your fault if i run into your cannon fire? you will happily take the tk punish?  i see you throw a nade at the enemy and i chase after it, its your fault?  but hey, it has to be expected right?  you kill an apc and i lie next to the burning hulk, it blows up to respawn taking me with it.  of course thats your fault too....  you should not have shot that apc with friendlys near....
when does a person take responsibility for their own actions?  NO tk is ever the fault of the person who was tk'd? thats what im reading here.  we have to expect tk punish when it was the other players fault?

on karhkand going up the hill from the train station, we hold the suburbs and then enemy has the train wreck. i put a mine in the middle of the road just short of the crest on the flat, you come running down from the suburb in an APC and have plenty of room to go left or right of the mine, your going to blow it up? ive got 4 enemy kills there this round because they cant see the mine because its over the crest, and they cant shoot it because of the same reason.  your going to blow it up instead of going around it? and its my fault that a retard ignores the warning and drives over it?
when is it the other persons fault?

Why do people get all bent out of shape over a punish anyway?

And YES!
1. If YOU/whoever-you-are/ is/are thinking that there are stupid retard noobs that play the game. . .
+
A fact you have to KNOW!
2. That many people are on automatic-mode when they do the irrelevant "punish" thing. . .

Then YES you are doubly stupid for laying nearly useless "mines" that retards will run over and it is your fault, for you KNOW they probably WILL and then will automatically punish you/for ANY TK not just mines! (. . . mines made nearly useless: by the patch, not by me).

No B.S. here - there is NO WAY you don't know better? Or maybe you don't.
+
Why don't you give a crap about a few lousey points and the game-word "punish."
+
Why do you think or are certain that it is not your fault some of the time or often even? Do think everyone can avoid every mine placed? You can't.

Do you think driving fast around any corner in any vehicle might not result in a TK some of the time? It will some of the time. . .

People CLAIM that they're not the STUPID one when a TK happens that it's ALWAYS the other GUY that is STUPID!

I see no evidence that the CAUSE-R of the TK is not as STUPID as the one who got TK-ed. Get over it . . .

i hate the punish because i like to play engy, and im tired of being kicked from the server. i dont care about my score, i like to play!  most servers have a low limit on the number of tk punishes you can take in a round.  some as low as 3.  if there was no kick, i could care less about the punish.
mines were nerfed a bit with the patch, but they are far from useless. i get alot of kills with them. i have defended a ton of flags with them, and i have decided win/loss with them.

While thinking about the teamkilling-problem in general , i noticed all v1.03 servers i play on are  set with Friendly Fire = ON .

Unchecking the FF box in the server menu  ( FF  = OFF)  , would mean THERE IS NO TEAMKILLING POSSIBLE.
(I preferred playing on FF=off  servers to play CoD and RtcW for this reason).

Why is it all servers seem to have FF on, if this causes so much annoyance among players who think the goal of the game is to capture enemy flags and  to kill  the "enemy" instead of your teammate !?

Second question: are there any FF= OFF servers running  the v1.12 patch , and if yes, how many ?

there are one or 2 servers with FF off, but they are unranked.  to be a ranked server, FF has to be on. ranked servers also have a few other rules as well.

The real prob with mines and tk's is with the game itself and not the individual players (well mostly).

1. Mines/Claymores show up exactly the same as C4 which is safe to walk over. No color codeing or different icons seems like lack of common sense on ea's part.

2. Communication on BF2 sucks elephant ass! VOIP squads only! WTF! I can talk to a whopping 5 people in my squad, but I can't tell the guy right next to me that I'm gonna toss in a grenade to clear the room?
What, use the keyboard? Get out of town! Let's see I gotta :
    a) Hit 'team chat' which immobilizes me
    b) Stop like a wounded duck so I can use both hands on the keyboard
    c) Aim towards my teammate so I can see their name
    d) Try to read and copy their crazy name with all types symbols
    e) Happily take a couple of bullets from the room while I type
    f)  Type rest of msg "%$#@! throw grenades!"
    g) Hit enter
    h) If I survive this long it'd be a miracle and I can grab my mouse and move again
    i) Fire back at enemies once
    j) Die an embarassing [shock paddle] death

Even if I get the msg out, how many msg's do you read while engaging the enemy? Well hurry up read fast before it's pushed off the screen by teammates spotting enemy activity. Another prob with BF2, chat should have it's own place. Maybe no text at all for spotted enemies just the soldier's voice, an icon on the minimap, with the spotted enemy's name visible on screen.

PS
Don't block us off from a road or path just because you hope the enemy may sometime try to cross, later on maybe, if you're lucky. Save your mines for when you see the enemy and place them accordingly. The more routes we have to flank the enemy the better. Flanking the enemy will give you more chances to sneak around and place mines effectively. You see what I'm saying? Dropping mines on deserted roads and empty paths are bitch moves. These are pathetic spineless kills that take zero skill and only work against noobs, usually noobs on your own team. SABOTAGE THEIR VEHICLES NOT OURS! Ya dumb asses! Vehicles give your team a big advantage on the battlefield, to waste it on a single measly kill is a low down dirty shame. Grow a pair, grab a gun, man up and fight, ya bunch of pantywaists!

1. mines and claymores also produce a red box on the right of your screen, C4 does not.  red box on right = it will kill you if you go near.
and as to

it taks a texas sized pair to play engy in bf2. you get a shotgun to kill people with. and those wanting to leave deserted roads to your back base totally undefended isnt very smart.  ill take my pathetic spineless kills over your "quality" machined gun kills any day of the week.  there is absolutly nothing more satisfying than being across the map and having your name pop up with 4 kill cause sombody found one of your mines, or watching that enemy helicoptor hovering around the flag you have mined and watch it get a little too low.....
placing mines effectively is the most difficult thing to do in bf2.  putting them where they will kill the enemy and allowing your team to pass takes more balls and skill than mowing people down with a machine gun.
the only thing that keeps engy from being the best kit in the game, are tards that refuse to heed the warnings. i have killed the same guy 3 times in the exact same place cause he didnt like me putting a single mine where i had. had plenty of room to go around, but being a tard..... that didnt occur to him.  my score was shot to hell. but it was fun while it lasted. he's no longer allowed to play on that server any more ;-)
and lastly, mines are defensive only 95% of the time. you place them where you dont want the enemy to drive to. ie your back base, or the flag you just capped.  they are not effective in the offense. rarely you can get a mine on or near to armor that is sitting still, but thats rare. they are most effective when the person driving thinks the area is clear.
a good engy will put mines where he will kill then enemy and allow friendlys to go where they want. i put mines out in singles where they are harder to spot. and i do very well killing enemy vehicles. so when you grow a pair big enough to play on the same team as a good engy, im not hard to find.....

Make mines claymores C4 disguishable on screen and make team communication better, because this guy is a jackass!

True that, a little red box does come up on the hud. To me this ain't nearly good enough. The warning is way too broad, a few groups of red x's, it's impossible to tell which are mines, claymores, or C4. Maybe adding a buzzer when you get within 3ft or so would make it a little better. C4 is the most common by a long shot, and it's safe to walk over. Using the same icon I see too much room for confusion.
You should be aware that there are indeed noobs playing, and since you are more experienced you must be careful where you place your little boobie traps. Even if the people are noobs or "'tards" as you call them, by killing them you are a burden on your team. Noobs can help us out on the front line, even if they suck ass, at least they'll draw some fire off the rest of us.
I know what you're saying about leaving the back base "unprotected". But keep a stiff upper lip little guy, don't count on the enemy just plowing through your front line and invading your home base, give the team you are playing with a little credit and respect. You can learn a lot from them, it's all about teamwork. I play engineer quite often, whatever the team needs at the moment, and I get very few tk's. Currently I'm Gunnery Sargeant, going First Sargeant and only 55 tks. I have never been banned or kicked from any server.

sounds like you were the one being a "tard". Do you not learn? Have you no common sense? in that situation you'd be the one banned, not the noob that keeps getting tk'd. Your method is mindless, you drop mines in certain areas no matter what the battle situation is. These are good spots (everyone knows them) but they're only good when the enemy is approaching, at any other time they are hazards. ...and if that was fun to you, great ceasar's ghost you're a wild man!

Talkin bout balls son? You drop a mine and run bitching all the way to the other side of the map! I'm the one to run right up and drop one right in front of a tank/apc, or right in back then watch as they drive right over it, surprise! Yeah I'm sick like that, see. And I will own you with the shotty son! Watch out MK3A1 comin at cha! The shotty is very effective in close quarters, but you can't tell if you keep running away son. And you get grenades a knife and a pistol, what are you bitching about? Oh well I bet you can't use those effectively either since for you, "placing mines effectively is the most difficult thing to do in bf2".

No thanks, doesn't sound like you'd benefit my team at all. As an engineer your duties include disarming any mines that are a potential threat. So do a little growing up son, act like a man and learn to work together as a team. Then maybe I will take some time to play you so I can rip you a new one and learns you a lesson or two.

PS
I'm not just starting up with you for no reason, you're being a bitch and I'm just letting you know. Don't get your panties in a bunch just cuz you kill your teammate with a misplaced mine. Learn from it, you are always more at fault then they are.

well, im not going to respond to every point, i was being a bitch. i vented due to the number of tards ive ran across the last few days.  the new fun they are having is riding on ATV's and running into armor and punishing that way.
after reading that no matter what it was the mine layers fault for putting a mine there, ticked me off, it was total BS. i do agree some engy's go overboard on the mine laying, but playing engy is a tough kit to play on bf2. i always leave room for my team to get by safely, and i get tons more kills than TK's. an occasional TK has to be expected, weather from a mine or sombody running infront of your AT rocket at a bad time.  although, i hate the auto punish most of these players have, its the tards im aiming at.
the guy that ran over the mine 3 times in a row wasnt a noob, just being a tard. he was a SSG and was going out of his way to run over the mine.  not every TK i have is the other persons fault for sure, but after a week of dealing with these fools got me a bit bent out of shape.   i still have a problem with the fact that people enjoy getting on a server and seeing how many people they can get kicked, and it irritates me i have to switch kits to keep from getting TK's by fools rather than whats needed at that time.
and for the record, im a 1st sgt and i know that keeping the house clean and having dinner ready is a full time job! or so my wife keeps telling me

I have a very good solution to this whining/bitching about teamkilling with mines and that is for you guys to get EA/Dice to REMOVE the goddamn mine from the game. It causes more misery than happiness so we'd be better off without the bloody thing and there'd be one less lame thread on this forum!

The biggest problem I see with this issue, and it IS GETTING OLD... is two-fold.

Firstly, there will always be smacktards.
Secondly, neither you nor the game-engine can discern the intent of a players actions.

Therefore, I believe the current system is the best solution.

What I think needs to happen is a paradigm shift in gameplay.

Engineers/snipers need to be more responsible about when/where they place their explosives. I am sick and tired of trying to bring valuable assets to the frontline, only to be locked in by my teammates explosives. Stagger the damn things!

Snipers don't need to go up the nearest ladder to a CP just to drop a Claymore... we own the damn flag! At leat wait until it is being overrun to place your explosives. In a perfect world, there wouldn't even be snipers in the damn game.

Lastly, I would really like to see SpecOps players quit using C4 like it was a mine. I know it's in the intro movie and it looks kinda cool, but you people SUCK. It's really hard to tell a C4 from a mine when driving. Stick the stupid C4 to the sides of barrier walls or the sides of a building. Don't just throw them down somewhere because then we can't know if it's safe to drive over.

Just help out your team instead of trying to pad your stupid stats! Jeez... you've already ruined your profile with that stupid name anyways....
