Its not your graphics card but your monitor. You are probably at the highest resolution the monitor can support, any higher you would most likely start causing damage to either the monitor or the graphics card.

Well you could force the monitor to support the resolution change by editing the graphics card drivers but it is not recommended. Going higher than the maximum supported resolution would start to damage the monitor and the graphics card itself. It is definitely not recommended on a widescreen monitor because the screen resolutions and aspect ratios are different than regular monitors.

Have you tried running at the 1600 resolution? And also, what kind of monitor do you have?

I've got the same problem all my other games run at my tfts native rez 1280x1024 exept 2142 witch will only let me run 1280x960.

Dont make sence as i know the screen will support it an my graphics would have no probs with it.

2142's menu only goes up to 1280x960, but so did BF2's until the 1.03 patch. Chances are it supports 1280x1024, DICE just didn't put it in (which is stupid because 1280x1024 is far more standard than x960)

yep i dont know that i agree with the " your monitor cant take it" tbh friend of mine is running it at  1600x1200 witch he did by comand line ( he cant proove its runnning at that though ) and he seems happy that it is working right .....reading vid revues testers seem to be running it at a mutch higher rez then 1280x960 to test SLi set ups etc

Setting A Custom Resolution

Since the lack of a range of resolutions is one of the most common complaints about BF2142, I'll spell out the solution again here. It involves using the +szx and +szy command line options (covered in the Advanced Tweaking section). For example to set a resolution of 1280x1024, go to your BF2142 launch icon, right-click on it and select Properties. Then in the Target box put a single blank space after the last character and insert +szx 1280 +szy 1024, substituting any other number for the 1280 width and 1024 height respectively to suit your needs. The end result should look something like this:

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

Now each time you launch the game it will run in the custom resolution specified, however note firstly that you must make sure your monitor can support this resolution, and secondly the Display Mode setting under the in-game Video Settings will not show the correct new resolution, not that this is a problem. Unlike Battlefield 2, editing the Video.con file does not work in properly setting a custom resolution, so this is the recommended method for doing so.
