Guys, have had a hiccup for a while and it getting a little annoying.


The fault is, i load a map, and after 5 seconds of it completing the verifing  it doesnt matter if i have joined or not. Bf2 freezes, for about 5 seconds, after that i am good, for rest of game until the next round.  KInda annoying as you can guess.  Have tried reinstalling bf2, and repatching and there is no viruses, or spy ware running.  It is not  video settings based from what i can see. Punk buster is upto date. tried numberous drivers. and walk thrus on lag issues.

System
xp pro , with service pack 2
latest drivers.
e6600 conroe,
x1900xt
2 gb of 3200 geil ram.
running raid 0 drives.
on an asrock vista board.

suggestions? or do i wait for next patch , or just reformat.

any one else have anything close.

how about your video drivers? I had a glitch with my video when every time I died the screen strobed. fix with a new video driver..

yeah , i have tried numberous video drivers, tried the latest catalyst, even went back to 6.5

tried is it omega, and that, the system is not overclocked and it is not a heat issue.

the silly thing is the system , use to run  a 6800gt, on a 19inch crt and never had a problem , so why would upgrading the video , and moving to a 22lcd, cause this delema mind you this was on 1.3

map size doesnt affect the issue. be it a 64 or a 32. might try single player, or a 16 when i finish work.

i have amazing lag at start up aswel, takes 10-15 secs then its fine, i gues its normal.
game stil loading ect

I have the same problem only worse. I don't recall it happening when the game came out so much, seems like it got worse a patch or two after SF came out. Sometimes it's just a hiccup, other times I'll hop in a jet and get over midfield, spot a target and dive in for a bomb and the game will stutter and I'll either come to another frame where I crashed or get "Lost connection to the server." It seems I have to see all the terrain before the round starts actually running smoothly.

It didn't seem to happen so much in raid 0 which I'm no longer in since seagate sucks and after a drive got bad blocks and they sent me a refurb which got bad blocks after a couple weeks I said fuck it. I'll buy dual 74g raptors next upgrade. I'll try to remember to post if a HDD change makes any difference for me.
