But hell, I know where you are coming from Marconious, I wouldn't defend our nation either UNTIL it was attacked.
You do also understand that America was playing a monopoly with Japans fuel supplies and that was the reason for Pearl Harbour as Japan only had 1-2 years of supplies until they did run out so no they had a very good reason to attack you. Even if it wasnt the most courageous they still had a reason. But this is where your logic goes to peices. Hitting the enemy before he comes to your doorstep. Why was the US utilizing its whole Pacific Fleet? To play around a little bit? Japan saw a threat and jumped on it.Stingray24 wrote:

It was there our isolationism came to an abrupt end when the enemy chose not to love us for keeping our nose out. *liberals gasp* “WHAT? Minding our own business in the face of a ruthless enemy didn’t work?” *liberals scratch their heads* Protect our nation and our allies, first. Worry about who likes us after that's accomplished. News flash: even if we stayed at home, people will not like America.TeamZephyr wrote:
Sorry I don't believe in invading other countries and putting their citizens in danger just so my country's citizens can avoid it.
The logic that you try and put forth there is the exact reason that many of the world's problems exist and SHOCK one of the main reasons that people don't like America. Jumping at shadows and destroying other countries just so YOU can feel safe is NO JUSTIFICATION FOR WAR.
As mentioned in the post before I will defend Australia to the death, but not to the extent in which I would invade another country and put their citizens in danger, the cost of life does not change from nation from nation.
I do believe in invading other countries – precisely so my country's citizens can avoid danger. That’s the job of the armed forces, too keep the enemy away from our soil, not to wait until they get here. Hitting the enemy across town so he doesn't get a chance to come to your doorstep is always the best course of action. You may love the citizens of the other country, which is good, we should avoid civilian casualties as much as possible. However, you're fighting their army, whose job is to kill you. I guarantee if you wait until they get to your soil, they'll come for you and they won't worry about your citizens. Reality bites.
I also get what you're saying lowing but because 3000 people die in a terrorist attack does it justify killing over another 500,000 innocents which had nothing to do with the attack? And to go with that your own troops are dying fighting from a cause they dont beleive in. Yeah dont worry i know what side of the line you stand on but i was just putting things in perspective.lowing wrote:

Afghanistan, yes i would serve. Bin Laden was being harbored by the Taliban.
I dunno what Iraq has to do with it, I never mentioned Iraq. Why did you??Snipedya14 wrote:

The current conflict is in Iraq. When we talk about a draft with respect to the American military, it is implied we are referring to the current conflict, ie Iraq.lowing wrote:

better go back to the comment Marconious made and I responded to, it had nothing to do with Iraq. Basically you are trying to defend someone who just stepped on their dick. and your not doing it very well I might addjonsimon wrote:

I did read the original comment, and I explained where the latter comment was coming from. Maybe you shouldn't be such a prick to everyone?lowing wrote:

Considering the 150000+ troops in Iraq, compared to the realitvily small number in Afghanistan.....Id think "the draft" would be for Iraq. Did you even read to posts in this thread? Most people have been referring to the current conflicts.lowing wrote:

yup sure did, but I responded to Marconious post.2nd paragraph..............which he declared he would fight If the US was attacked. Marconious didn't say shit about Iraq in the sentence nor did I responde to it mentioning Iraq. Iraq was not mentioned until you spouted off.Snipedya14 wrote:

He makes an excellent point - a serious threat like nazi germany? Then yes maybe I wouldn't draft dodge.PRiMACORD wrote:
Depends on the threat.

Killer bees scare me more then terrorists.
Fighting for some trumped up garbage which we'd really have no business doing, then hell no.
But then again I'm already Canadian so the worst they could do is what, draft me to another canadian radio crew?

"no i've been fucking brainwashed"
