Sergeriver you are from Argentina. What are your view points on th Falklands/Malvinas
For me: Other
1) Mental exercise - the brain is a 'muscle' too as it were - debate keeps you sharp.
2) Listening to others opinions can be beneficial to you - if you wallow in your own views all the time you allow no scope for self improvement and allow no-one to prove you wrong. I like to have my views challenged. Sitting with hands over your eyes/ears is not progressive.
3) Hopefully having number 2) apply to others.

i agree it is good to debate as we may learn. Voices shouldn't be silenced, but if the views are wrong they should be educated IE racism.
Mr.Poe smoking is bad for you give it up.

To be honest I don't give a shit for those islands. We lost any chance to claim they are ours in 1833, when we allowed England to take them. If some jerk here in the awful military Dictatorship (1976-1982) thought they were ours, well he was wrong. The people living in Falklands/Malvinas/Ass of the World are British, they speak English, and they want to stay British. I also think they are a little too away from UK, lol. What else can you do?commissargizz wrote:

Debating on this forum gives me access to the rest of the world's opinions.
Mental exercise.
Education.

Education.
Keeps me off the streets from peddling my ass for crack.
anyone on here thinking they'll convince anyone they're right is going to be disappointed, i do it more out of curiosity to see what other people think, learn about other cultures, and see lot's of semi-pr0n
Thanks for views Serge, I do agree with everything you said. the war was for politicians on both sides. If you want them you can have them also I don't give a shit what flag a piece of dirt flies under. Unless i was brain dead US patriot that thinks all things American is right. cheers
I enjoy hearing other views. Probably the same reason I like the "arts". The creativity of the human mind amazes me and debating is a craft. Everyone has opinions on things but to see someone try to demonstrate theirs in a clever and articulate way is very cool. I also do this thing in my head where I try to predict when someone is going to lose it. Whether it be from getting "emotionally" involved in a thread or just feeling like they are pinned in a corner, it's actually pretty entertaining. The driving reason I am active in these forums is to see how people present their view. No matter what the issue. The one disappointing thing I must say is there are soo many close minded folks in here. It's as if they are more concerned with being wrong rather than improving themselves intellectually.

I selected to get a ban. In reality, I think we all debate politics because we actually want to convince others they are wrong and to recruit them to your belief set. THAT, is human nature.
NO ITS NOT!!!IRONCHEF wrote:

Other.
I simply enjoy the discussion no matter what the subject. Even people I usually disagree with have good points at times. Hearing the opinions of others expands awareness of the people we share the world with.

Politics is something everyone should have an opinion about, as it's everything around us. Yes, in a democracy (Democracy (literally "rule by the people", from the Greek demos, "people," and kratos, "rule")), everyone can/should make a difference (in ideal situations). We do it by electing people that represent our beliefs. We then discuss why our elected government didn't keep it's promises. Cést la vie, I guess, everywhere. When not happy with the elected decision makers, we elect a new set of representatives.
Politics work on a local/community/state/country/global scale, and affects everything from you buying milk from the grocery store to North Korea making nukes. It affects us all.
This is why I discuss/debate politics.
Edit: Spell check
