That is alot. And if you have hte HIND, youre effed... I'm not complaining persay, , but what do you guys tihnk?

Yea I used to think the same, but I use the buildings behind the the helipad spawns get an AA missile after me, flare it and see where it comes from. Wait a little bit before popping round the side and strafing it.
Learn where the AA sites are and use the UAV to see if its the mobile AA.
Its probably the only map in the game where choppers will not dominate like they do in other maps, unless you have a very tuned in pilot and gunner.
I dont think Ive ever seen anyone not get shot down on the map at least 4 times IAR.

Agreed, the HIND sucks on that map, the Apache is much better. But for maps like Gator, HIND is just as good I just wish its dumbfire missiles werent so spread out and slow firing

i think AA has WAY TOO MUCH range.  ive been shot on the SAS heli-pad by an AA somewhere in the middle of the map, ive also been shot almost all the way across the entire map.  it really sucks and i hope EA will change that in their next patch.  you shouldnt have AA that can shoot something that is farther than the average view distance in the game, its stupid.

I love AA!  I think this game should have better AA, or at least smarter.  Stationary AA sucks a little.

1. Thats what I do. lol
2. I have, and the Apache is so much better at taking the stationary AA out because the missiles are closer together.
3. Yeah.. yet, I'm trying to whore them. But when Bf2sUS server gets Leviathan on its rotation, I'm making it my mission to get it as my most played map.
4. Yeah... I average around 4 deaths IAR.
5. I hate the HIND. lol WAY to far spread out on the missiles.

I agree and disagree, depends who I'm playing with. Bit of an AA whore, esp in the linebacker. If my clan buddies are on server, then I like to go as helo gunner, and AA then licks balls.

I like to AA whore like everyone else, but choppering is fun too Its also fun blowing up the choppers with the tanks on Ghost Town
The trick to Ghost Town (in my experience) is to:
1) Get the Apache
2) Dont trust the gunner....most gunners i get on the map strafe mobile AA with the cannon
3) Stay on the move at all times
4) ALWAYS check for mobile AA and make them your #1 priority for targets. Ignore tanks - they can be taken out later on.
5) Helipads and Island CP's should be your main targets - easy to hit and lots of cover. Islands are even better, since when you flare up, the AA will not only go after the flares, but the oil towers too - making any AA lock on impossible.
If the enemy have the Road on the side (forget its name now)...and you have a decent gunner, sit in the Apache around the Oil Towers and have your gunner loose of TV's in its direction.

HIND is so much more useful on Gator since it is so easy to circle CP's with - and the cannon is a lot better too. But, for strafing Infantry, maneauverability and accuracy (and rate of fire!) of pilots rockets...Apache wins outright.

I used to fly a lot on Ghost Town but then I realised whats the point. I can get twice as many points by whorringa  tank or a linebacker. I took down countless choppers with a tank just coz they dont pay attention. You see one flying somewhere slowly aim a bit ahead of it fire and then mgun the rest. Got a lot of practice on firing on moving choppers in that map.

Main reason I dont fly much in Ghost Town is even if you can get a couple quick nice kills in so what you spend a lot of your time flying back and forth from the helipad and back.

Love linebacker on Ghost Town! I usually can fly around uninhibited when I've got a good gunner who can TV.

This is me in a Linebacker.

So we should nerf artillery, LGMs, and TV missiles too?

Jojoba, that is prolly me shooting at yer dumb ass....  I love AA in Ghost Town and I WILL whore the SAS AA the entire game.  Mostly likely, it is me shooting those freakin choppers all the time...  When I tank whore I shoot them down with my tank....  APC can do the job if you hit it just right....  I love nothing more than lighting up the chopper's radar alert....  You outta see me on Dragon Valley....  Gawd, the choppas and jets HATE me....  I am such an AA  WHORE.

That is why I love Ghost Town so much.  The difference between the apache and the hind are huge.  Apache you hit everything straight on and the hind you have to rotate around.  Makes it interesting if you do switch during rounds.

The good thing with this map is that you can shoot a TV all the way across. And thats make AA no problem. Team up with a good gunner, a good pilot and you're set. 80-1 is the record for my gunner on that map, 79-0 on Iron Gator (with the Apache).

Yea the AA on Ghost Town seems ridiculous, and u gotta be crazy to fly on that map. I love it Without it though, choppers would completely pwn that map, not just say 90% pwn it.

But a good pilot can beat the AA every time, then it just becomes more of an annoyance than anything. I love flying on that map, it's more of a challenge than raping the carrier deck on Iron Gator. Which is also fun

There are some great pilots who deal with the AA no problem.  There are tons of places to hide from the AA on that map. I've been attempting to fly there, its hard, almost a waste of time in the Hind -it sucks.  The longbow is badass.  Its like a flying ferarri.  If you can get the linebacker first, you'll do ok.  There are more than enough snipers on that map that keeps guys from just sitting in the AA stations.

I will also hang out around AA stations or jump in the linebacker whenever I can.  I love shooting Helis out of the air.  I'll even man the TOW at the SAS base and pick off helis too.
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something.  - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.

It´s true...

The only way to survive there is with a good pilot who can line up to the correct AA...
So I never fly with unknown pilots there, it´s about 88% granted that you will be shot down in that case....

I have to agree with Snake for the most part. the mobiles are your worst enemy.
my tricks are:
1. repair often, don't let your damage go more than 2 bars if possible. that way you can take 2 full hits from AA and not die.
2. use the oil towers flame to recover / hide from AA, especially if the enemy has the base next to your bridge.  if they do, taking out the mobile that spawns there is your #1 priority.  if there is a supply crate on the island you can use that for repairs also.
3. use strafe runs on  the top of the convoy every minute or so. snipers just love to spawn and sit up there = easy kills.

And I completely agree with that I dont repair quite that often, but as soon as I have lost 1/4 armour, I will hit the pad for repairs. Although, you have a point and ill bear that in mind next time I play

Ghost Town if you want a challenge with the SF choppers (HIND in particular), Gator if you want those yummy Driver points

I havent played on Ghost Town.  Warlord is taking my attention lately.  But Snake knows what he is talking about...  He is a tough competitor too!  I can count on him fragging my arse if we are on separate teams!

The thing I don't like about Ghost Town is how reliant things are on the AA. All it takes is one poor AA gunner and the whole map is nothing but rape rape rape.

Toast town is my second fave Sf map.Piloting the Apache brings home more points than gunning in it,due to stupid tv missles and the pilot being able to take out every infantry and his wife with those splash damage missles.

Only problem i have with it,is most if not all Eu Toast servers have no raping uncap rules, then you get some guy in their uncap sat on an AA,untouchable.

It seems like the percentage of decent chopper gunners/ chopper pilots compared to people playing the game is gettin smaller and smaller!!   Even when i find a good choppe mate, if we make a mistake we can never team up b/c someone who sux hops in the seat !
