Now that the Democrats are in power what is the new approach that the new congress will take to 'solve' the 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States?

- What's the new approach for Immigration with the Democrat's in power?
I guessing it doesn't have to do with crapping away money on a fence.

Step #1 - Remove the Democrats from power.
Step # 2 - Thats it.
Step # 2 - Thats it.
Malloy must go
i say every time we deport them we put a collar on them and bury one of those invisible fences like in coneheads
I don't know what the dems have said on the "immigration problem" in the past so I can't speak intelligently for what they'll do in the future. Hopefully they'll follow what their consituents say (which is a pretty even balance of good and bad ideas) and produce a real solution. Or they'll just sit on it and use it at election times in the future.
I hope amnesty is not given, and since deportation is not a real option, some sort of punishment should be. I think there was a plan that sounded good that entailed them being put in line for citizenship and if they paid regular taxes they could eventually be candidates for citizenship.
Illegaly entering this country should still be considered a crime, and it should be punishable. Since border protection only does a minimal amount of prevention, I hope a democratic congress will get nasty with Mexico and start tariffing them (void/alter NAFTA?) or otherwise penalizing them for contributing to our costs. Illegals are "illegal people" regardless of what they think they are and it's time SOMEONE, ANYONE does something real to stop the flow. Children born here of illegals should NOT have citizenship and they should not get non-emergency care. And Mexico should be given ALL the bills their country's citizens cost us.

QFE that's actually a good idea much better then an other fence. I saw a movie once where they had guys who had one of those things around there neck and when they got a certain length away they're heads would explode. Lets do that..kr@cker wrote:

Not likely. But trying to void a contract/treaty with another country? Are you mad? Once you do that, then any treaty/contract you sign with another country is utterly worthless.IRONCHEF wrote:

I'll tell you what the Dems will do if you can tell me what the Reps accomplished in the last six years.Harmor wrote:

Their target is to double the number within two years. The wall that has been approved is a bit of a setback but they're still confident they can keep their promise.Harmor wrote:

The wall is a start, but they were too busy worried about the ILLEGALS yelling racist whenever anything is suggested to keep illegals out or send them back. Now Dems are in power. Your move. And not the stupid amnesty for all 12 million idea, either.rawls2 wrote:

Stike a deal with Mexico allowing US citizens to own land in Mexico and vice versa. If Americans own land in Mexico it wont be long before the area will heavily developed stimulating the Mexican economy enough were illegals wont need to come here.Stingray24 wrote:

That's actually an interesting idea. Create a US owned-investment zone within Mexico. The Mexican government would soon close its fucking borders then.rawls2 wrote:

No reason to buy land, just annex it. Then we'll all be one happy family.

CAN FOREIGNERS REALLY OWN PROPERTY IN MEXICO?
Yes, Americans and other foreigners may obtain direct ownership of property in the interior of Mexico. However, under Mexican law, foreigners cannot own property outright within the restricted zone. Instead, a real estate trust must be set up to hold title for the foreigner. Since foreigners are not able to enter into contracts in buy real estate, they must have a bank act on their behalf, much as a trust is use to hold property for minors because they also can not contract. The following is a brief outline of the law regarding such trust, known as "fideicomisos", but potential buyers should always get advice and have all real estate transactions overview by a licensed Mexican attorney.
[...]
THE RESTRICTED ZONE AND "FIDEICOMISOS"
The law declares that the Mexican nation has original ownership to all land and water in Mexico, as well as minerals, salts, ore deposits, natural gas and oil; but that such ownership may be assigned to individuals.
The Mexican Constitution prohibits direct ownership of real estate by foreigners in what has come to be known as the "restricted zone." The restricted zone encompasses all land located within 100 kilometers (about 62 miles) of any Mexican border, and within 50 kilometers (about 31 miles) of any Mexican coastline. However, in order to permit foreign investment in these areas, the Mexican government created the "fideicomiso," (FEE-DAY-E-CO-ME-SO) which is, roughly translated, a real estate trust. Essentially, this type of trust is similar to trusts set up in the United States, but a Mexican bank must be designated as the trustee and, as such, has title to the property and is the owner of record. The Mexican Government created the "fideicomiso" to reconcile the problems involved in developing the restricted zone and to attract foreign capital. This enabled foreigners, as beneficiaries of the trusts, to enjoy unrestricted use of land located in the restricted zone without violating the law.
Is there something wrong with this picture? I guess there are plenty of jobs in the United States (taken outside of Home Depot):
Um, yeah , no. We could be one happily family if all you yahoos stop treating Mexico like a criminal and start treating them like a little brother.Stingray24 wrote:

How is asking Mexicans to stop invading our country wrong, and how is Mexico being a lawful partner to us with regards to immigration? They bring our hate on themselves..especially when jackasses like Fox question our motives for border patrol without even hinting at trying to curb their illegal immigration to our country.rawls2 wrote:

Ironic.
The immigration issue is like a dam thats about to fail. On one side you got all this pressure build up (Mexico). On the other side (America) you have people trying to plug the leaks with their fingers. Well isn't it better to go on the otherside (Mexico) and do things to reduce the pressure rather than adding more fingers to plug an ever growing amount of leaks.IRONCHEF wrote:

I wish all immigrants were honest and here to work, but 30% of our federal prisons have illegals in them. Why?rawls2 wrote:

Then those guys need to get the fuck back to mexico and stand on the side of the freeways and get work there. Oh wait, only cartels make money in Mexico. SO lets come exploit the FREEBIES in the USA and send all our untaxed income dollars back to fund our families in ole mexico until they can come here too!rawls2 wrote:

One of my ancestors left Minsk Ukraine when he was 18 in 1885 and arrived legally in New York. he then worked in the virginia coal mines until he saved enough money to ship his family and 11 other extended family members to America...legally. They all worked and then migrated to North Dakota and Minnesota in the early 1900's. They went through ALL the hoops, paid all the requirements, became citizens, and accomplished their "American Dream."
Every immigrant, Mexican, Guatamalan, Chilean, Canadian, South African, Sudanese, Tahitian...et al that comes here must go through the steps my ancestors did or they're an enemy to the state. They should be prosecuted and not GIVEN ANY HELP from this country unless they go through today's hoops (which are much easier than in the big migratory periods of this country). Everyone of those fuckers standing on the street corner is a criminal and should be treated so.
Agreed. Bush and Vicente Fox were pals, yet they weren't, and even though Bush pretended to care about illegal immigration, he didn't do jack..and when it came to be election time..what does he do? he offers a lame ass wall to be built. lolrawls2 wrote:

It is my hopes that Pelosi and her people will give serious incentives for Mexicans (in Mexico) to stay by working with Obrador (or whoever just won over there). And if they don't figure out something, then we need to start billing Mexico via tariffs or other things they're raping from us.
mexicans will stop coming when our economy is shit like theirs. when our jobless rate is shit like theirs. when they've made our country like theirs, then it will stop...unless something else happens. Personally, I think the minutemen down there are spot on. Some of their tactics suck, but it's better than the inaction of our country. I'd like the government to work with them to combine efforts down there on the border. It CAN be sealed if we want it to be.
