To be really honest, it is impossible to command 200% effectively while in a tank or playing soldier. Worse thing, driving an armored vehicle willl deprive the team of an really critical asset. The most I would do is flag defense like TV Tower in Sharqi, Hotel flag in Karkand as a commander, etc. I have seen tank commanders and they usually are not good at tanking or commanding. And the only reason they win is because the team is better than the commanding. If I do end up in the same side as you when you are tank commanding, I willl personally C4 you after 3 warnings.

Nothing personal, just getting the job done. - karma for spreading bad advice.

I have no problem with people commanding from tanks if no one else wants them. If there's a tank just sitting there, I'll hop in whether not I'm the commander.

2.  In a MBT, always keep ur front armor at ur enemy gun, the front armor is the strongest point of the tank.

3.  Protect ur sides and rear, those are the weakest and most vulnerable area.  Advice is to order some troops to protect it.
That is complete bullshit...despite popular belief.
2 tank shells onto the front tracks...tank dead. No buring, nothing. 1st shot sets them to half life and smoking...2nd shot, dead. I always aim for the front tracks and it never fails (providing you hit them). I have a 5KD with armour and thats from PLA and EF maps only (no armour whoring city maps for me). I know how to do it and what Im talking about (trying not to sound too cocky!!).

Actually, you do yourself more good spinning your tank side on to the enemy tank to protect your front tracks whilst pounding his front tracks.
Assuming that every shot hits...you will win everytime, because to kill a tank in the sidetracks requires 3 hits. If you take him out in 2, you not only save armour - but you can retreat and repair quickly.
Everyone knows that 1 TOW to the front tracks kills a tank in 1 hit...vital on Sharqi, so apply the same rule to armour vs armour combat.

If you dont believe me, try it on an empty server or a local LAN...

When you come to maps like Ghost Town in 8v8, everyone is in vehicles. If you wana beat the enemy armour every time, use that tactic. Believe me, it works and it works very well (for me anyway ). A 50/5 score the other day proves that entirely, and I went up against a Major for most of those tank battles.

I agree with you. By all means, when nobody wants it, commander can do anything he wants with it.

aww... when I saw the title I was really hoping for a comical "How to command from a tank" type of informational thread. It certainly would have been a lot more entertaining than this.
