OK, first go at a poll, and thought I would vent off steam through this bit of fun.

I got really angry a few nights ago because my team was so bad. I was gunner in a tank, repairing it as we went along. We took out three armoured units, captured a flag and loads of infantry. When we got blown up, all the flags were taken, and we lost. The tank drivers score was about 22, mine was 20, and the rest of the team scored 0, apart from a couple of guys who scored 2, and -4.

Unfortunately, for every loss, it's 3 wins to get back to the same point you were at.

I feel like there are already enough topics on the war college ribbon.

Yes but when you finally earn the damn thing it's easy to keep up with the losses thing the fact that i got it a second time last night to fix a glitch after 2 weeks of open play was easy. Thing is I started real early 190 wins 210 losses. My game really improved when i started on this pain in the ass because I was motivated to do one of the hardest things in BF2, And I did and I'm happy.

I agree with Sand Shark - I've started working on my war college ribbon, and in the past week I've brought my win:loss ratio up from .98 to 1.30.  I've only jumped teams once

You say you were gunning in a tank?  That's not what you shoul dbe doin to be gettin the ribbon man.  Using a tank is all well and good, but you should use it (along with a driver) to get flags.  I used to just point whore by killing everyone i saw on the maps that I played, and going for the WCR has made me go for flags instead.  It's not THAT difficult (unless you've been playing a while and you have 1,000 losses, then it might be difficult) but if that's the case you shoulda looked at the req's for it earlier, becasue chances are you've been playing a while.

The WCR is a frustrating bitch to work for - but that's just it, you have to WORK for it.  So many of the badges and ribbons in this game are pretty much just forked over to you (if you don't believe me, look at the basic vehicle badges, or the airborne ribbon).  I'm workin' hard for this ribbon, and I respect all the others that are too.

Agreed about the flags. One of the things that annoys me on maps like karkand is that people just crowd around the hotel because it's mad point hoovering action. Great if you want a high point score, but when a team of four in a jeep decides to take the flags behind, they go really quickly because there is no-one there to defend them.

I try to take the flags because thats the easiest way of winning the game. We had taken one flag, and we were headed towards a second flag, but my point was that without the support of your teammates to hold the flags, you may as well not bother playing.

Thanks for the support, and good luck in getting this ribbon

I hear ya - I've noticed a few times though lately if I can just get one or two people in my ambulance (Humvee with me as medic) than I can stop games dead in their tracks.  A few times this past week I was playing and the Hotel nubbies were doing there thing, and USMC won even though we were behind in tickets.

To me, the War College Ribbon shows you're a leader - or a team jumper.  Personally, I always have a hard time jumping teams, and usually when I do the team I'm on that was in the lead ends up losing, so I don't do it anymore.  Once you get a flag or two behind the Hotel, people pretty much layoff there because the action has slowed down.  Just my 2 cents though

I don't like the win/loss ratio part of it because there are a lot of people that will team jump to get it.  I wouldn't have a problem with it if EA changed it so that unless you switch teams within the first 3 minutes of a round, or are moved by AB, then you can't change teams.  That would make the WC ribbon actually mean something.

Technically, I think for the WCR, since it's all about the commander, it should only be your win/loss ratio as commander and not as infantry.  Usually when I'm commander my team wins becasue I do a pretty good job at it, and my team isn't usually completely comprised of smacktards.  Besides, if you're commander and jump teams, you wouldn't be able to get commander on the other team for a win.

I agree, the WCR is supposed to exemplify the leadership abilities of the commander, and yet a person's ability to get it is based on random people when pubbing.  I think it would have been better if they had somehow organized the requirements such that it would not be as dependent on your team, and yet the very definition of a commander is derived from his relationship with his team, so to a certain extent, you're kind of stuck.  The whole award is based on the relationship between the commander and his troops -- something that isn't always the tightest of relationships in a pub.  But I'll have to concede that you're right about them handing out a lot of the other awards freely, I remember jumping in an unused vehicle, parking it on the side, and going to eat dinner to get a few of my basics.  Making it tough to get will at least make it a prize worth earning -- it is one tough bitch to get.
