I've been there a few times there was not much of a middle class.CameronPoe wrote:

That's my point. It's probably just like Panama, which I've been to a couple of times, almost non-existent middle class, 5-10% uber-rich, everyone else dirt poor (with that number increasing all the time). The problem: the country is in fact owned by international corporations, big money and politicians who will bend over backwards for them (or else!) to the detriment of the populace as a whole. Capitalism gone wrong, capitalism without checks and balances. A country governed by global capital. The problem with pretty much all of Latin America and the reason for the rise of Ignacio Lula Da Silva, Evo Morales, Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro.Kmarion wrote:

Do you think it has a chance to stick and pull him from power? Or once a Socialist Dictator always a Socialist Dictator will keep power?

Looking at Venezuela's recent history, I'd say they're probably fucked no matter who they elect. We have plenty of corruption issues of our own, but Venezuela makes our government look squeaky clean by comparison.Harmor wrote:
