- Fox News ratings take a steep tumble - Sign o' the times?
Conservatives are better at getting organized. They naturally trust authority and strong voices. They like strong personalities who talk tough, especially to people who disagree with them. Hence they are better at talk radio. They are better skilled at "winning" debates on argumentative type TV shows.thanks_champ wrote:
I consider Jon Stewarts daily show to be somewhat more liberal than conservative - yet its still funny as hell. Air America was probably just boring shit (Im from AUS so I haven't heard it).
Liberals are better at entertaining and creativity. This is why the Daily Show is an excellent vehicle for liberal politics, and why Air America failed. You can't force something to be liberal that inherently appeals to conservatives, such as talk radio. Likewise, a conservative version of the Daily Show would instantly fail. Conservatives don't do funny or entertaining.
Huh, still #1 after the decline. The other networks suck that bad I guess. I don't watch any of them since I don't have cable tv, just cable net.The_Shipbuilder wrote:

- Although Fox News is still the #1 rated cable news channel by a long shot, its total audience fell 24% in the past year
- Fox News' key primetime audience, viewers ages 25-54, was down 7% YoY in October. In sharp contrast, CNN Headline news was up 18% in the same demographic. MSNBC was up 19%.
- Fox News' key primetime audience, viewers ages 25-54, was down in 3Q, 38% below 2Q. 2Q had already been 22% below 1Q, and 1Q had been 28% down from 4Q05.
Interesting stuff.
The authoritarian personality type? It's not about psychology, it's about hearing my side of the issues, not just the liberal bs side. I enjoy talk radio because there is actual discussion about the issues I want to hear about. In direct contrast to tv "news" blaring out the latest rip on a Republican along with a puff piece on a Democrat. Also, the hosts I listen to rip liberal thought apart with such ease, it's downright entertaining.The_Shipbuilder wrote:
It affirms my understanding that liberals have horrible skills when it comes to organizing anything political.
It also affirms my understanding that talk radio (and other such heavily-opinionated talking head media) is most attractive to people who demonstrate the authoritarian personality type, of which amongst liberals there are very few.
Regarding voter ID cards, my state won’t pass the bill for voter ID cards. Why? Then the Dems couldn’t have people voting 2-3 times and paying homeless with smokes and beer to vote for them.
It varies by county.kr@cker wrote:

I think everyone, no matter what side of the aisle, likes someone who doesn't pull punches with people they disagree with. I could be wrong, though. Do liberals just give in when they're debating someone they disagree with? Oh, I forgot, they refuse to answer direct questions and change the subject. That always works.The_Shipbuilder wrote:

Conservative shows = conservative views on the issues, contrasted with liberal views
Liberal shows = satire and humor about conservative views, little expression of what liberals really stand for
Talk radio doesn't work for liberals because they can't defend their views properly.

I agree with you.Stingray24 wrote:

But it's because we are not as talented at winning argumentative-style debates. It has nothing to do with the content nor merit of the views held. Conservatives are simply more skilled at argument tactics.
^^ Clinton was probably the best debater I have ever seen. He was a great speaker. This is widely known... damn I just complemented Clinton..lol

Liberals can't debate straight up based on the merits of their views, because people don't agree with their values when they're given point blank. They have to wallow in the middle and attempt to be on both sides so enough votes bleed over by people who were fooled.The_Shipbuilder wrote:

sometimes it's better to read than watch tv
On that subject I can't tell how many times I've been told that I 'just subscribe to FOX Kool-aid,' when I haven't had broadcast television for over fifteen years. I was more interested in school and video games.Turquoise wrote:

- The former simply isn't true. I trust authority as much as I trust any other person. A liberal pushing for bigger government has proven his or her greater trust for authority by default. The latter isn't necessarily true either. The Democrats have proven their worth at the art of slickmeistering.
- You honestly sound like an Apple ad. I have this mental image of two anthropomorphized computers: a smarmy, casually-dressed 'Mac' smirking and talking about how much better he is as at art and other non-boring projectsa stuffy middle-aged 'PC' in a brown business suit collapsing on the floor, bemoaning his depreciability (as if a Mac was any different), innate lack of creative skill (as if PC's didn't have Photoshop and Avid), and dull nature (which is why PC's have thousands of game titles under their belt)
Actually, it helps when more of your points make sense than the other team's. Additionally, spouting 'hate America' rhetoric is a steep slope to navigate with an American audience. Even some liberal folk I know were sick of being told how they were ruining the world.The_Shipbuilder wrote:

People want to be entertained. Regardless of what political side a program is on, it can either be boring or it can be entertaining. I consider Jon Stewarts daily show to be somewhat more liberal than conservative - yet its still funny as hell. Air America was probably just boring shit (Im from AUS so I haven't heard it). IMO it's got nothing to do with how much of the population wants to listen to what type of propaganda.
Ahhhhh so someone who listen ot talk radio instead of Snoop FUCKING DOGGY FUCKING DOG, must be a fascist.....got it now. makes sense.The_Shipbuilder wrote:

Good points, and yes, I usually avoid television -- except for Comedy Central and the History Channel.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

I guess I don't watch enough American TV.
Well then they better turn off the F'ing TV news and go outside. because they sure arnt going to get it from CNN MSNBC or the networks. Liberal bias news is running loose and out of control in this and every other country. Welp except those that hold guns to the anchors heads and tell them what to say.Agent_Dung_Bomb wrote:
