I'm not quite sure what the difference was between the quote from the thread starter, and the video. Seems to be pretty much the same to me. Sounds like he's saying military is uneducated. To some extent he's right because the majority of the enlisted military (enlisted does not include officers) joins without having a degree. I'm in the AirForce and don't have a degree...but I'm working towards one, as are many others. And yes I've been to Iraq. But I honestly don't think he meant to slight the members of our military, he just needs to pull his head out, and be a little more careful about what he says and how he says it.
I suggest the American Forum members SPAM his email telling him what a DumbASS he is for saying what he did and to come straight out and apologise to every member of the USA & Allies armed forces.
Could someone post his email address here, so I can flame him also - Australia has troops in Iraq & Afganistan also.

Yes, but the difference is that the Australian defence force has a completely different focus. Like Britain, we concentrate on a small, elite force.
So let me get this one straight, Is this just in Iraq? Or are you saying that this is the policy in Aus? Anti Military? Keep it Small? Just wondering, because i Dont know about your govts. Stance on its Countrys defense. But a weak Military shouldnt be a stance to take, especially with China Comeing up in the world.Bubbalo wrote:

Kerry's and the Rest of his tribe that think the same way and spew the same garbage are Ruining the armed forces. I mean if thats what they want is low enrolement, and in the future Less soldiers to protect his ass and his childrens, let him deal with it down the road. But rest assured, If they keep on this anti Military road(like past Liberal Admin Before) There will come a day when a Draft even not during war time will happen. Either that, or there will be mandatory military training with Certain Job training then an active reserve list with your name on it) should any trouble break out. But there not thinking for the future, there thinking only a couple years ahead, enough ahead as to try and let the left hear what they want to hear so they can get there votes, THEN live with the consequences of an almost non existant Military that will be Less equiped(like ours was when we went in to Iraq thanks to Clintons defense spending cuts and military downsizing).
Think about the long term Libs, Not just the election of 08.
Aside from the occasional retard and kid who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth because he couldnt cut it in college, a vast majority of the US military are intelligent, caring and good human beings, fuck this jackass.
What do you expect from an asshole who couldn't win the election against GWB?
Talking about elections vote for me http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=51258.

You know I was watching a documentary centered around Young Republican groups throughout college campuses. Although, they support Bush, wholeheartedly I mind add, not a one of them said they had ANY desire to go into the military to fight for their believes of democracy. With all the incentives that the military offers as far as scholarships and technical skills it really is a haven for the lesser educated and for those of us that were born without trust accounts. Ever since the standards were lowered for military admission, there has been an influx of 'lowlifes' and convicts. These are all known facts, but for a potential presidential candidate to come right out and put it into those words sickens me. As a political figurehead that will one day possibly have the backing of those troops that he so doggingly slanders he should not put himself into that position, regardless of the spin that he is trying to place on it after the fact. Why McCain gets singled out as the only one asking for a public apology I have no idea, there have to be a lot of Dem's that have been telling Kerry to do the same damn thing. You need to man up and apologize, the American public is very forgiving when human weakness is admitted. After all the political figureheads are human after all.
I strongly feel that Kerry needs to come out and apologize for the horrible things he has said about true Americans. At this point though after numerous press conferences of him back paddling to try to but a different spin on the statement, I am afraid that a apology would only be yet another political move and not sincere.
To that I add, Kerry looks like a damn alien besides and everyone knows you can't trust aliens*!

Don't worry, since Kerry is a Democrat this will only be in the news for another 12 hours and then we'll be done with it. I wonder what would had happened if a Republican said this?
Very poor choice of words by Kerry. But then the man never was the sharpest tool in the box, just a tool. I do agree with the anti Bush sentiments, that are what he meant in his statement, but he did phrase his criticism very, very badly - the man's supposed to be a politician for fucks sake, that's his job, phrasing things in a diplomatic manner.
I haven't seen linguistic ineptitude like that from a politician before, apart from Bush and everyone knows he's verbally challenged.

Kerry is obviously talking about the troops, but what I think he is insinuating is, that if you don't get an education through traditional channels and you want educated, the only place to get a free education is in the military. Thousands of the poorer segments of American society signed up for the education but got a war instead. Its well known that the US army recruiters target kids who are poor, telling them they will get a scholarship and an education. It has been turned around by the right to demonise Kerry, just like the last election.
Kerry is twice the man Bush is IMO. Every second picture you see of The Commander and chief he is dressed in a flight suit. He was quick to jump out of it and into a heep of coke, booze and hookers while doing his national service. (When you have coke & booze together you have to have hookers, ffs its like 1+1=2)
Kerry knows what a war field looks like, if Bush had seen the horrors of war, maybe he wouldn't have been so quick to send thousands to their deaths on a pile of lies.

to quote part of your post : "You know I was watching a documentary centered around Young Republican groups throughout college campuses."
Why should they? There already getting there education. There content on having Others fight for there freedoms. And its amazing that anyone found a republican group on ANY campus in the US today.

He ONLY said that it was aimed at bush a day after everyone jumped on his ass about it. He also says he wont say hes sorry to Anyone includeing the military soldiers. Man Thats alot of votes the dems(no matter who) in 08 arnt gonna get. This Screwup will haunt them for years.Bertster7 wrote:

He didn't.
Why do you think I was so critical of his wording of his criticism? Because he left it so totally ambiguous. It was a stupid mistake and he's stupid for making it. I wouldn't say this puts him on a par with Bush, he's still got a lot of stupidness to catch up on, but it's a step in the wrong direction.
Thats a pretty Brash statement to make. Could count as slander if it were to be read by someone that was inclined to use it. Nice assumption. But lets watch Kerrys documentary again, it was so interesting the first 100 times and even his shipmates resented it.JahManRed wrote:

But to classify the people in the military as folks just wanting to get a free education, Might be half right, but FFS man, Its the military. You know Armed forces, Weapons training, Nationsl guard, active reserve. If they Joined for a free ride, then they were sadly mistaken and They truely were lacking any education. Even the reddest of rednecks Knows that the military means theres a good chance you will be called into action. Sheesh.
Why is Kerry bothering to run in '08 anyhow. The only thing that made him appealing in '04 was the fact that he WASN'T Bush, but that didn't even work for him. I think him running again without much Demo backing is going to be a horrible mistake.
You could be right there. Agreed on some points.Bertster7 wrote:

NOOOOOO he said something that could be misunderstood. If you don't go to school you will misinterpret shit like this.
So far the political analysis from all this says that its about a 1% of the voters are affected by this. Therefore only in the closest elections it may make a difference. In other races, like in West Virginia, where Bird is up 32 points it won't make a lick of difference.
As a Vet of the US Army I can say that Kerry is full of shit! I served in the Army then went to college after I got out. Some of us don't have rich parents that can pay for us to go to college for 10 years to get a 4 year degree. I used my Army money for college and now have my Masters Degree in IT, SO GO FUCK YOURSELF KERRY!!!!!!
Kerry made a flub. All he has to do is apologize & clarify what he said. But instead he claims conspiracy and sticks to his guns. Nice ego.
jesus christ, the klansman is still up that high? if the nazi party wants a foothold in american politics, perhaps they should start in WV.Harmor wrote:

he was at my school and i was one of the lucky schmucks to have been able to get in the building before it was filled to capacity. the second he said that shit i told the people around me that shit aint funny and they agreed. I was even wearing my old Army PT shirt (the older type). I shook hands with a vietnam veteran at the event as well, Id have to say that was the highlight of it all. he made himself look like an ass to most the students that were there. I mean shit, Ive been to Iraq and now Im going to school, that kinda fucks up his point. Although I figured it was a rip on bush, but it didnt come out like that at all.
im doing the same thing. except im in the reserves now while im going to school.SFCCDailey wrote:
