That PSU is good also, but the others I posted here are better quality.

Here is a more affordable one that is very high quality, http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=PS-E5150GH
(little secret, if you Froogle "Enhance 5150GH" and then find the link to the one at Ewiz you will actually save a couple dollars lol)

As a side note, most OCZ memory is incompatible with the newer P965 chipset. I would avoid OCZ ram.

If he is overclocking I would avoid any chipset other than the 965 or the 975. All of the others have a FSB wall and his OC will be severely limited. If he is not overclocking then the other chipsets are fine. If he is going SLI he is out of luck, most of the SLI boards will not OC very high at all.

If you wait just a little longer you will see video card prices drop because DX10 cards are starting to arrive.

PS: Trusted brand names for power supplies are Enhance, Seasonic, Sparkle, PC Power & Cooling, Enermax, Silverstone, Hiper, and Corsair. The newer Antec (NeoHE) and Thermaltake (Toughpower) models are good. That XClio model is good. Anything else and I would not trust it with a >$600 PC.

Agreed, you really do get what you pay for.  You may want to skimp on other parts of the computer, however I wouldn't on the PSU.

99% of the comps I build are AMD chipsets.  Thanks for the Intel (You get the pun) on the OCZ / Intel compatibility.

I always check the mobo's website for compatibility before ordering anything.  Made that mistake..... once.

Well it depends. Do you want to over clock a lot or do you want to do SLi? Because that board doesn't support SLi. But the RAM might be ok but not sure.

Well in that case the motherboard will be fine. Just need to make sure that the RAM is compatible with the motherboard.

Bah in all honesty you should always go for Corsair ram. In my opinion of course.

Can't because it would cost him too much. $1,000 dollar budget

CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP. I'm sure it'll be alright. I would also get some heat spreaders for your RAM there.

That RAM is crap, don't get that stuff. Stick to G.Skill, Corsair, and OCZ if you want quality RAM.

don't rule out ebay either.  i just bought a dual core amd and sli mobo combo for dirt cheap.  i don't buy from people who dont' offer returns or have excellent feedback.  my new mobo, cpu, a 7900gt and 1gb or ram (my upgrade) will cost me $500.  probably even less if i wait till after x-mas.  but i've been without my old computer for two weeks now and know i can't wait that long.

oh yah i also got a 19" lcd ws for $190 as well.  along with the 518 mousey mouse from logitech.  (newegg)

newegg + ebay FTW!!!!
