Ok, building my brother a new computer. Needs to run BF2 (Duh) and be suited to run newer games in general. If it can be done, dual core. Let's keep it around a grand, preferably under.

Go!

You should've known by now that most of the people on these forums post to be smart asses. Anyways, try this website:

http://www.sharkyextreme.com/guides/MVG … hp/3633106

That site has a list of parts for a value computer that can run anything pretty much every few months. That's Septembers right there and it should really help you the most. I used their Value gaming PC guide from October last year and I can still run just about any game I try at highest settings with no problem, so that computer will be even better than the one I have, it'll be perfect.

3. ive seen those type of posts before too, which is why i thought i would get some useful information if i made one, not some irrelevant crap.

www.newegg.com

everythings uber cheap, good costumer service, gets there fast.

but if u wait a few months, til after xmas, EVERYTHING WILL BE ABOUT HALF THE COST OF TODAY (for a lot of parts) (which kinda demotes the word everything)

Oh man NewEgg is awesome. They are basically the cheapest around and you get everything so quickly. I once got a DVD burner from them the next day when it was set for standard 5 day shipping. They are definately the site to order stuff from. Also ZipZoomFly is good because they have free 2nd day shipping on just about everything.

E6300 - $180
Gigabyte DS3 - $140
X1950Pro - $200
2GB DDR2 667 - $215
~500W PSU with dual 12v rails...see below - sbout $100
Seagate 320gb 7200.10 sata2 - $95

That right there is about $930... still need DVD rom and case and heatsink.

You could always go for the Gigabyte S3 and not the DS3 and save like $30 cuz the S3 is almost the exact same board but for only $116
